Scranton Limited (CEO Park Dong-jun) participated in ‘KOPLAS 3 (14th International Plastics and Rubber Industry Exhibition)’ held at KINTEX, Ilsan for 18 days from March 5 (Tue) to 2023 (Sat).
Scranton Limited is a company that specializes in handling and supplying eco-friendly and bio materials. We are providing materials such as biodegradable raw materials and masterbatch developed and manufactured by leading overseas companies, as well as various eco-friendly packaging materials and design products to the domestic market.
At this exhibition, Scranton Limited introduced ‘DuraSense’, a bio composite material from Sweden ‘Stora Enso’. It is a material that combines by-products generated in the pulp manufacturing process and PP, and uses a wood fiber-plastic composite material that reduces carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions as raw materials. As a result, it is possible to form a reasonable supply price similar to existing plastics while having a small impact on the environment.
It is characterized by the fact that the wood fibers in Duracens are supplied from forests in the Nordic region, where sustainability is strictly verified according to strict management and certification procedures. Polymers, which are one of the composite materials, are polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS, and the like. Thanks to this, the company explains that it can be applied to various injection molding fields without additional equipment, and it is attracting attention as an alternative plastic material.
In addition, Duracen uses natural materials extracted by minimizing the waste of wood. Furthermore, it has the advantage of being able to add various forms and atmospheres to product design with a wide range of expression, such as the naturalness of wood itself, various colors, and texture and emotion from raw materials.
An official from Scranton Limited said, “Duracens can be applied to fields that require high applicability and processability, such as reusable tableware, to household items with high strength and a wide range of thickness control.” By expressing the natural feeling as it is, it can be used as a feature of the finished product and a selling point.”
“Through numerous certifications requested by customers, the superiority of the material itself has already been sufficiently verified, and carbon dioxide can be reduced by up to 80% and plastic usage can be reduced by more than 50%, which is perfectly in line with the global eco-friendly trend,” he emphasized.
On the other hand, KOPLAS, which celebrated its 2023th anniversary in 27, provides various attractions from raw materials for plastics to molds, processing machines, related auxiliary devices, automation solutions, printing, packaging, semi-finished products, and finished products, and presents the present and future of related industries. A ‘place for the plastic rubber-related industry’ was established. As it was held concurrently with the Korea Material·Composite Materials and Equipment Exhibition (K-Mtech) and the International Mold and Related Equipment Exhibition (INTERMOLD KOREA), various products were introduced in one place.
