At FIX 2024, K&D unveiled its proprietary blanking die for secondary batteries optimized for cutting-edge electrode materials. This equipment is critical for stabilizing quality in mass production, particularly in the lithium battery industry, a key sector for electric vehicles (EVs).
The EV battery industry emphasizes thinner electrode materials to enhance energy density and performance. However, processing and handling these materials have become challenging. K&D’s advanced precision press die technology addresses these challenges, helping manufacturers improve yield rates during battery production.

A K&D representative stated, “The electrification trend is transforming the traditional automotive market, and advancements in secondary battery technology are pivotal for boosting Korea’s competitiveness in high-tech industries. K&D supports this transformation with technologies that enhance high-quality production in the battery sector.”
The representative added, “We are fast-tracking the commercialization of precision blanking dies for 12µm copper anodes and are targeting the development of dies capable of handling 4µm materials. Our ongoing R&D focuses on mastering ultra-thin material processing technology while we also plan to expand our portfolio to include electrode notching and other essential processes for secondary battery manufacturing.”
FIX 2024 featured specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing showcased trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, exhibited AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo displayed industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Startup Arena” was introduced to facilitate meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
