Samsung SDI unveiled its full lineup of mobility batteries and enhanced safety technology in the “2024 Future Innovation tech eXpo (FIX 2024)” from October 23 to October 26 at Daegu EXCO.
Highlighted at the event, Samsung SDI’s solid-state battery features proprietary anode-free technology, achieving an industry-leading energy density of 900Wh/L. Samples of this model have been supplied to clients since late last year, receiving positive feedback.
Samsung SDI also presented its 46mm cylindrical battery, which will be mass-produced in early 2024 for micro-mobility applications. Thanks to new electrode technology, the LFP+ battery boasts over 10% higher energy density than traditional LFP batteries. Optimized for commercial vehicles, the battery supports over 5,000 charge cycles and can achieve an 80% charge in just 20 minutes.
Furthermore, Samsung SDI introduced its CTP (Cell to Pack) concept, which eliminates modules to increase energy density and reduce costs within the same volume. Safety-enhancing technologies were also showcased through informative videos, attracting considerable attention from attendees.
To illustrate the applications of its batteries, Samsung SDI exhibited e-mobility solutions like BMW iX electric vehicles, e-scooters, and e-bikes, all powered by Samsung SDI batteries. The company also shared its vision of a sustainable, eco-friendly future, emphasizing ESG initiatives such as the RE100 commitment, battery recycling, and carbon reduction.
Yoon-ho Choi, President and CEO of Samsung SDI, stated, “With our advanced technology and top-tier quality, Samsung SDI is leading the global battery market. We will continue to pioneer in the future mobility sector with timely mass production of next-generation products, including solid-state and 46mm cylindrical batteries.”
