FIX 2024 (Future Innovation Tech Expo 2024) opened on Wednesday, October 23. The unveiling of the Tesla Cybertruck, which has yet to be released in Korea, drew large crowds.
The Tesla Cybertruck, officially launched in November 2023 with its first deliveries, appeared in Korea at FIX 2024 ahead of its domestic release. Visitors flocked to the Tesla booth from the opening day, creating a bustling scene.
The Cybertruck’s exterior features ultra-high-strength cold-rolled 301 stainless steel, first used in SpaceX’s Starship rockets. This material boasts excellent body strength, durability, and wear resistance. The vehicle’s design highlights sharp lines, with notable elements such as a steering wheel resembling an aircraft yoke.
At this event, the Tesla Cybertruck debuted for the first time in Korea. It sparked curiosity among international visitors, many of whom got a feel of the exterior or sat inside to explore the interior. Reactions to the vehicle varied widely.
Mr. Lee, who traveled from Seoul to Daegu EXCO to see FIX 2024, commented after sitting in the Tesla Cybertruck: “The design, inside and out, perfectly matches the title of a future car. It’s incredibly attractive,” adding, “If it ever launches in Korea, I want to buy one after getting my license.”
FIX 2024 featured specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing showcased trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, exhibited AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo displayed industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Start-up Arena” was introduced to facilitate meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
