    Daegu’s ‘FIX 2024 Conference’ Engages Global Experts: Leading Future Industries in Mobility, Robotics, and ABB

    The 2024 Future Innovation Tech Expo (FIX 2024), which opened on October 23 under the theme “A Better Future Shaped by Innovation Technology,” hosted its conference until October 25 at EXCO in Daegu and the Hotel Inter-Burgo EXCO.

    The FIX 2024 Conference focused on three main areas: Mobility, ABB, and Robotics. It attracted 81 experts from 13 countries, including 31 international speakers, who delivered insightful presentations.

    On October 23, the opening day, Hyundai Motor Company’s EVP SangYup Lee and LG Electronics’ Chief Engineer Sangyong Lee led the Mobility session. In his talk, Mr. Lee from Hyundai Motor Company emphasized the importance of customer-centric design: “The technological advancements in mobility lead to a safer, more enhanced transportation experience.”

    LG’s SangYong Lee discussed “In-Vehicle Experience” and highlighted the evolution of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and how advancements in big data and AI enable personalized, sophisticated in-car experiences.

    UCLA Professor and RoMeLa Robotics Lab Director Dennis Hong gave a compelling presentation on humanoid robot technology in the Robotics session at the Hotel Inter-Burgo EXCO. With over 20 years of experience, Hong shared insights into humanoid robots and other innovations.

    The ABB session featured Jung-Woo Ha, head of the Future AI Center of Naver Cloud, and Professor Taekyoung Kwon of Yonsei University. Ha presented on “Sovereign AI: Our Growth Strategy in the Generative AI Era,” discussing Korea’s AI strategies and initiatives, while Professor Kwon, Chair of the Korea Institute of Information Security & Cryptology, spoke on security trends and threats posed by generative AI.

    The keynote sessions generated substantial interest, with the 360-seat auditorium filled and additional attendees standing.

    On October 24, Remco Timmer, VP at HERE Technologies, addressed mapping technology and location-based services critical to autonomous vehicle development. NVIDIA’s experts discussed using the NVIDIA Inference Service (NIM) to integrate large language models (LLM) in R&D.

    On October 25, Seung-yun Ryu of Infineon discussed the advancements and challenges in mobility semiconductors as the sector trends toward electrification. Seok-ha Park from BOS Semiconductors discussed the present state of autonomous driving semiconductors. Additionally, Autonomous a2z hosted a special session on overcoming challenges in achieving full autonomy (Level 4).

    Un-baek Choi, Daegu’s Head of the Future Innovation & Growth Office, commented, “The FIX 2024 Conference is where top scholars discuss pivotal topics in future innovation technology. By sharing global trends and strategies, we aim to lead Korea’s future technological advancements.”

    FIX 2024 features specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing showcased trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, exhibited AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo displayed industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Start-up Arena” was introduced to facilitate meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
