Kumyang Co., Ltd. participated in the Future Innovation tech eXpo 2024 (FIX 2024), held from October 23 to 26 at EXCO, where they showcased their industry-leading 4695 cylindrical battery and introduced their entire battery value chain.

Kumyang’s newly developed KY-4695 battery, created to tap into emerging markets, boasts an impressive energy density of 290.2 Wh/kg, surpassing Tesla’s 4680 battery, which has an energy density of 243.4 Wh/kg. KY-4695 also offers a capacity of 34.0Ah, compared to Tesla’s 23.4Ah.

Kumyang’s KY-4695 is equipped with a high-nickel NCMA cathode developed by Kumyang’s subsidiary SM Lab, with a nickel content of 97%. For the anode, graphite with less than 5% silicon is used. As a result, a 75kWh battery pack for an electric vehicle would require only 600 cells with the KY-4695, compared to 867 cells with Tesla’s battery, reducing cell count by 31%.

With 600 cells, the KY-4695 can provide an impressive range of up to 600 km, equivalent to an efficiency of 8 km per kilowatt-hour. At the event, Kumyang demonstrated the KY-4695 in a four-wheel drive electric vehicle, attracting significant interest from major global automakers.

Additionally, Kumyang displayed a large-scale diorama model of its soon-to-be-completed Gijang Dream Factory 2 and shared research achievements in high-nickel cathode technology, reaching 97% nickel content. The company also created a 3D VR experience, allowing visitors to explore Kumyang’s extensive MonLa mine in Mongolia.

To engage visitors, Kumyang provided a racing simulator experience to showcase the speed of future automotive technology, enhancing its brand image through interactive activities.

A Kumyang representative noted, “Recently, Kumyang signed a six-year, 2.3 trillion KRW distribution agreement with U.S.-based Nanotech for our innovative 2170 cylindrical battery. Global corporations have shown continued interest, giving us high expectations for future results. FIX 2024 presented a valuable opportunity to demonstrate Kumyang’s advanced technology and corporate value.”
