Hylium Industries, Inc. (CEO Seo Young Kim) participated in H2 MEET 2024, held from September 25 to 27 at KINTEX, Goyang.

Founded in 2014 as a venture company from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Hylium Industries quickly gained recognition for being the first in Korea to develop cryogenic liquid hydrogen production and storage technologies. Since its inception, the company has continued to create various green energy technologies, including hydrogen liquefiers, liquid hydrogen storage tanks, hydrogen refueling stations, and hydrogen-powered drones. This technological prowess is backed by over 50 patents and intellectual property (IP), allowing the company to expand its business into multiple areas.

Hylium Industries showcased various innovative products at this year’s exhibition, including a hydrogen liquefier. This liquid hydrogen drone boasts significantly extended flight times compared to lithium-ion battery-based drones and a drone control vehicle. By presenting this comprehensive array of products, the company aimed to highlight its extensive liquid hydrogen portfolio, covering production to practical applications.

Hylium Industries’ hydrogen liquefier cools hydrogen to cryogenic temperatures, transforming it into liquid form and compressing its volume to 1/800th of its gaseous state. This solution was presented as a highly efficient, energy-saving method for reducing the costs of hydrogen production and transportation.

The company also introduced its liquid hydrogen tank for mobility, designed to store and supply liquid hydrogen to vehicles safely. Thanks to its lightweight design and optimized hydrogen storage density, this tank promises enhanced fuel efficiency and extended driving ranges, potentially exceeding 1,000 kilometers. The tank’s capabilities make it a strong candidate for use in hydrogen electric vehicles (HEVs) and hydrogen buses.

In addition to these offerings, Hylium Industries presented a leak detection tape that changes color from brown to gray upon contact with hydrogen. This innovation can be applied to hydrogen tanks, pipelines, and storage facilities, ensuring enhanced safety.

A representative from Hylium Industries remarked, “We aimed to communicate the technological strengths and uniqueness of each product while conveying a unified brand identity that represents Hylium Industries’ distinct value. As the hydrogen market continues to mature alongside the acceleration of carbon neutrality, we are promoting the potential of liquid hydrogen as a fossil fuel alternative with six key products that form the foundation of the hydrogen value chain.”

H2 MEET is a specialized hydrogen industry exhibition for Korean and international companies and institutions involved in hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization. From this year, H2 MEET aims to become a professional event that will enhance participation from global hydrogen industry companies, generate tangible results, and contribute to understanding South Korea’s hydrogen economy ecosystem. Starting this year, it will be held in conjunction with H2WORLD and concurrently with the K-BATTERY SHOW 2024 and HARFKO (Heating Air Conditioning Refrigeration and Fluid Exhibition—Korea) 2024 at KINTEX 1.
