AHN Materials (CEO Ho Seon Ahn) participated in H2 MEET 2024, held from September 25 to 27 at KINTEX, Goyang.

Founded in 2020, AHN Materials has positioned itself as an energy-focused company. It has drawn attention by designing and introducing its first triple-layer gaseous hydrogen storage cartridge. After completing the prototype cartridges with smaller, more advanced specifications, the company is also engaged in various research projects, including developing a quad-layer liquid hydrogen storage container.

AHN Materials aims to differentiate itself with its multi-layer hydrogen storage technology, bringing these innovations to commercialization to meet customer demands. The company is working toward becoming a leader in the energy sector as the focus on green energy intensifies across modern industries.

At this exhibition, AHN Materials showcased its cryogenic pressurized hydrogen storage cartridge, featuring a triple-layer structure consisting of a vacuum insulation section, a refrigerant section, and a gaseous hydrogen storage section. According to company representatives, this structure offers significantly enhanced features compared to conventional products.

The cartridge maintains a cryogenic environment by storing liquid nitrogen in the refrigerant section. This increases the density of hydrogen gas and allows for greater compression and storage compared to maintaining the same pressure at room temperature.

Additionally, the cartridge is manufactured using a commercialized double vacuum container, which reduces production costs and makes it competitively priced. Its compact form allows for versatile applications, including drones, urban air mobility (UAM), and small land-based mobility.

AHN Materials explained, “Following the success of securing KRW 600 million in investment, we were also selected for the Deep Tech TIPS program, securing KRW 1.5 billion for a related project. Based on these significant investments and support, we have now embarked on developing liquid hydrogen cartridges and large, mobile liquid hydrogen stations that can be integrated with them.”

The company continued, “By late 2025, we plan to present this research and development results and ramp up global marketing efforts. We will enter the commercialization phase by establishing production protocols and contract manufacturing agreements. By 2027, we aim to generate pilot revenue from various liquid hydrogen storage containers and mobile stations, transitioning to a B2G business targeting government and research institutions and expanding to B2B by 2031 as part of our phased growth strategy.”

H2 MEET is a specialized hydrogen industry exhibition for Korean and international companies and institutions involved in hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization. From this year, H2 MEET aims to become a professional event that will enhance participation from global hydrogen industry companies, generate tangible results, and contribute to understanding South Korea’s hydrogen economy ecosystem. Starting this year, it will be held in conjunction with H2WORLD and concurrently with the K-BATTERY SHOW 2024 and HARFKO (Heating Air Conditioning Refrigeration and Fluid Exhibition—Korea) 2024 at KINTEX 1.
