The H2 MEET Organizing Committee (Chairman Nam-hoon Kang), composed of the Korea Automobile & Mobility Association, H2KOREA, Hydrogen Energy Network, Korea Energy Agency, and Korea Industry Alliance Forum, jointly hosted the ‘Best Product Media Award’ with the Korea Automobile Journalists Association (Chairman Dae-yeol Choi) at H2 MEET 2024. The results were announced on October 4.
The Best Product Media Award was introduced in 2022 to promote new technology and encourage companies to participate in future events. This year’s award involved media personnel covering the event voting based on the participating companies’ audience engagement, market potential, and technological innovation.
The grand prize, Best Pick, went to HD Hyundai Infracore’s hydrogen engine ‘HX12’. Additionally, Excellent Pick honors were given to Kolon Industries for their ‘Fuel Cell Humidity Control Device’ and Approtium for their ‘Ammonia Cracking Equipment.’
HD Hyundai Infracore’s ’HX12’, which earned the Best Pick title, is an 11L hydrogen engine for vehicles. The engine stands out for delivering greater maximum power and torque compared to competitors while utilizing existing internal combustion engine platforms, allowing for the easy conversion of older vehicles. HD Hyundai Infracore aims to begin mass production of hydrogen truck engines by the second half of 2025. The company garnered significant media attention during H2 MEET 2024 by showcasing its hydrogen engine technology and development roadmap.
Kolon Industries, recognized with an Excellent Pick, introduced their ’Fuel Cell Humidity Control Device,’ a core component of the air supply system in hydrogen fuel cells. This device uses a polymer composite membrane to selectively permeate moisture, enhancing the system’s electricity generation efficiency and durability. As a key player in Kolon Group’s hydrogen business, Kolon Industries also displayed other essential materials for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, highlighting its competitiveness in the hydrogen mobility industry.
Approtium, also honored with an Excellent Pick, showcased its Ammonia Cracking Equipment, which produces clean hydrogen by decomposing liquefied ammonia transported by sea. Approtium’s booth was highly praised for its interactive digital media and content, which provided visitors with a comprehensive view of the company’s clean hydrogen business value chain. Currently, Approtium is collaborating with Denmark’s environmental technology firm Topsoe to expand the supply and reach of clean hydrogen through its ammonia-cracking technology.
Chairman Nam-hoon Kang of the H2 MEET Organizing Committee remarked, “H2 MEET 2024 successfully introduced cutting-edge hydrogen industry technologies, receiving tremendous attention. We are thrilled that the Best Product Media Award further recognized these innovative technologies. Moving forward, H2 MEET will continue to promote the growth of the global hydrogen industry by expanding the reach of hydrogen technologies and fostering collaboration across various sectors.”
H2 MEET 2024, held from September 25 to 27 at KINTEX, Goyang, featured 317 companies and organizations from 24 countries and drew 41,000 visitors. The event included exhibitions, conferences, global partnership meetings, and other programs, solidifying its role as a global platform for the hydrogen industry. H2 MEET 2025 is scheduled for late October 2025 to commemorate Hydrogen Day.
