EN2CORE Technology Co., Ltd. (CEO Sae-hoon Uhm) participated in ‘H2 MEET 2024,’ held from September 25 (Wednesday) to 27 (Friday) at KINTEX, Goyang.
Founded in 2014, EN2CORE Technology brings together experts in plasma physics, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and nuclear engineering. The company has built specialized expertise in high-density thermal plasma technology. EN2CORE is divided into two main business units: the semiconductor division, which provides Remote Plasma Sources (RPS) for etching and deposition processes in the semiconductor industry, and the environmental division, which focuses on developing sustainable low-carbon fuels and materials to decarbonize industries dependent on fossil fuels, such as transportation and chemical production.
At the exhibition, EN2CORE Technology showcased its proprietary plasma and syngas production device, the ‘H2L2-ICP.’ This solution converts biomass gases obtained from landfills into syngas through plasma reforming. The syngas produced can be a precursor for renewable fuels like bio-methanol, bio-hydrogen, and sustainable aviation fuel.
The device supports plasma ignition within seconds of current application and gas input, ensuring flexibility in response to demand and power supply fluctuations. The plasma’s high-temperature environment effectively decomposes gases with varying compositions.
The system is designed without electrodes for plasma ignition, significantly reducing maintenance costs by eliminating the need for consumable replacements. It also features a wide, spear-shaped, high-density, high-induction plasma formation along the discharge tube. The H2L2-ICP system boasts reliability, verified through continuous operation tests exceeding 1,000 hours, and demonstrates exceptional integration capabilities with various chemical and energy processes.
EN2CORE Technology stated, “We have accumulated extensive data on biofuel production using gas feedstocks such as landfill gas and biogas through H2L2-ICP. In particular, we have been conducting performance enhancement and cost-efficiency research at our demonstration site in Bangcheon-ri landfill in Daegu to strengthen the competitive quality of our facilities.”
The company added, “We are also developing plasma-based methane pyrolysis technology to commercialize a solution that produces turquoise hydrogen and solid carbon by decomposing methane. Experimental evaluation equipment for this technology will be set up at our headquarters and within the Seoul Metropolitan Landfill Management Corporation’s premises. Our goal is to establish a successful demonstration plant for this technology.”
H2 MEET is a specialized hydrogen industry exhibition for Korean and international companies and institutions involved in hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization. From this year, H2 MEET aims to become a professional event that will enhance participation from global hydrogen industry companies, generate tangible results, and contribute to understanding South Korea’s hydrogen economy ecosystem. Starting this year, it will be held in conjunction with H2WORLD and concurrently with the K-BATTERY SHOW 2024 and HARFKO (Heating Air Conditioning Refrigeration and Fluid Exhibition—Korea) 2024 at KINTEX 1.
