The H2 MEET Organizing Committee* (Chairperson Nam-Hoon Kang, hereafter referred to as the Organizing Committee) announced that H2 MEET 2024, which took place from Wednesday, September 25, to Friday, September 27, at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Goyang, welcomed over 41,000 visitors and successfully wrapped up.
H2 MEET 2024 featured a record-breaking 317 companies and institutions from 24 countries, participating in three key categories: hydrogen production, storage and transportation, and utilization. The exhibition, conference, and export consultations were effectively organized, elevating the event to a new level as the World Hydrogen Expo.
Nam-Hoon Kang, Chairperson of the H2 MEET Organizing Committee, remarked, “The quantitative and qualitative growth achieved by H2 MEET 2024 during a time of accelerated global awareness about environmental and energy issues holds great significance. We hope H2 MEET will not only present a vision for the future of the hydrogen industry, particularly with green hydrogen, but also establish itself as a global platform leading the expansion of the hydrogen market and the sustainable transition to the hydrogen era.”
◆ A wide array of exhibitions showcasing the future of the hydrogen era, the direction of hydrogen mobility, and regional hydrogen industry models and blueprints.
H2 MEET 2024 brought together key hydrogen industry players, including major domestic corporations like Hyundai Motor Group, Korea Zinc, Kolon Industries, HD Hyundai Infracore, NK Tech, Hylium Industries, Samjung ENC, and Donghwa Entec, as well as global giants like Bosch, Fortescue and Emerson, who all showcased cutting-edge electrolysis system technologies and innovative products.
The event also highlighted the direction of advanced hydrogen mobility, with displays ranging from hydrogen buses to trucks, tractors, drones, and hydrogen-electric trams, allowing visitors to experience the future of hydrogen in industry and daily life. A special hydrogen charging station pavilion featuring tube trailers and liquid hydrogen tankers was also set up, providing insight into the charging process and further enhancing the understanding of hydrogen infrastructure.
Regional hydrogen industry models and blueprints from domestic municipalities and other countries were presented in exhibition halls. Local governments, including Gangwon, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, Ulsan, Pohang, and regional technoparks, showcased region-based specialized companies, products, technologies, and achievements. International exhibitors from Canada, Australia, Switzerland, and other countries displayed technological advancements and prospects, exploring opportunities for collaboration.
◆ Global hydrogen industry leaders gather to discuss technological innovation and cooperation for a sustainable hydrogen future.
In addition to the exhibition, H2 MEET 2024 hosted various programs designed to share insights and explore future developments in the hydrogen industry.
The Leaders Summit occurred on Thursday, September 26, and Friday, September 27. It featured over 150 speakers worldwide, including leaders from the global hydrogen industry, policymakers, and experts. Key participants included representatives from the French Hydrogen Task Force, Wood Mackenzie, Chevron, Bloom Energy, Argus Media, Emerson, Fortescue, and Siemens, who engaged in lively discussions on the future of hydrogen.
This year also saw the Korea-Japan-China Hydrogen Mobility Forum, which aimed to strengthen cooperation among the three nations. Representatives from Hyundai Motor, Toyota, and Kaiyun Motors participated in the forum, sharing updates on the hydrogen mobility landscape in their respective countries and discussing future development.
The Country Day event, held on September 25 and 26, facilitated in-depth discussions on participating countries’ hydrogen policies and industry trends. This year, Country Day featured presentations from 12 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, and Norway, with participation from embassies, overseas research institutes, and associations. The U.S. Country Day debuted this year and presented insights into the U.S. hydrogen landscape and policy.
During the three-day Tech Talk sessions, global speakers gathered to present the latest technological trends in hydrogen systems, green hydrogen, and solid oxide fuel cells. This year’s Tech Talk attracted the highest number of international speakers, drawing in participants until the event’s final day.
◆ Solidifying its global hydrogen business hub position with Innovation Awards and Global Partnership Consultations.
A total of 10 companies were selected and awarded the ‘H2 Innovation Awards to discover innovative technologies in the hydrogen industry in the fields of hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and transportation, and hydrogen utilization. The grand prize was won by Iljin Hysolus’s ‘Type 4 Hydrogen Fuel Tank’; Utility Global’s ‘H2Gen™ Reactor won the best hydrogen production award’; the best hydrogen storage and transportation award was won by Mt.H Control Valve’s ‘High-Pressure Hydrogen Dispenser Flow Control Valve’; and the best hydrogen utilization award was won by eflow’s ‘1.5Kw Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Generator’.
Meanwhile, the Global Partnership Consultations, co-hosted with KORTA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), facilitated approximately 250 meetings over three days between 56 domestic companies and 31 buyers from 12 countries, including Malaysia, China, and Egypt. This led to the signing of five MOUs with companies such as G-Philos, Sentech ENG, Hydrogen Tech, and GHS. This demonstrated H2 MEET’s potential to serve as a robust global hydrogen business hub, supporting the growth of domestic hydrogen companies.
Moreover, media outlets like H2 Energy News (Bosnia), H2 Mobile (France), Sohu (China), Interesting Engineering (U.S.), and SolarQuarter (India) participated as partners. Korean reporters attending the event selected the ‘H2 MEET Best Product Media Awards’. At the same time, international journalists chose the ‘Global Media Pick’ to help companies promote their products to a global audience. The event also included an H2 MEET Tech Tour, which offered visitors a deeper experience by showcasing hydrogen production and storage facilities.
H2 MEET 2025 is scheduled to occur in late October next year, commemorating Hydrogen Day.
