VanaM (CEO Han Su-deok) announced that it will participate in CES 2024, the world’s largest IT and home appliance exhibition, to be held in Las Vegas, USA in January next year.
VanaM is a company with proprietary thin film growth technology, through which it has developed next-generation semiconductor thin film materials and components. It is based on a proprietary process that creates high-quality, highly uniform thin films by precisely controlling the thickness, composition, and other characteristics of the thin films.
VanaM’s technology is evaluated as having great potential, not only in terms of the quality of the thin films produced, but also in the endless possibilities for using materials and devices that could not be utilized with existing manufacturing technologies and methods. Accordingly, VanaM is constructing a microfoundry focusing on deposition processes in downtown Seoul to expand related manufacturing capabilities.
VanaM’s first project is to commercialize ‘VM1’, an energy-sensitive semiconductor thin film that is essential for applications such as fire detection, electronic devices, and battery protection. VM1 is based on a highly crystalline semiconductor thin film made by eco-friendly vacuum deposition, and has the distinction of being the first energy-sensitive semiconductor to have a thin film form.
Depending on its form, VM1 can be a key component that greatly improves the detection performance of safety systems by reacting very sensitively to heat and electrical energy, and the company believes that it can replace bulk semiconductor components such as thermistors and varistors that were previously used. This is the side explanation.
In particular, VanaM plans to exhibit its VM1 at CES 2024 and seek sales partners in the global market by emphasizing safety, a common trend in the global industrial and consumer technology world.
VanaM officials said, “We plan to publicize the technological excellence of VM1, focusing on manufacturers of electrical and electronic products such as batteries and IoT devices. “As safety-related trends intensify in industry and consumer technology around the world, our products, which boast specialized responsiveness, will be an attractive alternative,” he said.
At the same time, it also promotes the microfoundry business currently under construction. An official from VanaM said, “As our company has secured special thin film manufacturing capabilities that meet various industry requirements, we are also positively evaluating the possibility of attracting customers.” He added, “In particular, depending on the market demand for sensitive semiconductors, we will be expanding in 2024. “We expect to achieve export performance of over one million dollars,” he added.
Meanwhile, ‘CES’, the world’s largest IT exhibition hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is an exhibition where you can see the flow of innovative technologies around the world at a glance and is held every January in Las Vegas, USA. AVING News, which has covered CES for 18 consecutive years, has reported CES news around the world every year since 2006, and has been selected through ‘BEST OF CES’ and ‘BEST OF MADE IN KOREA’, which select the best innovative products, companies and technologies. has been in progress. In addition, CES on-site issues are vividly conveyed through ‘AVING LIVE’.
The CES 2024 Seoul Unified Hall will be operated at the largest scale in terms of exhibition area, number of participating companies, and number of participating supporters since Seoul City’s first participation in CES in 2020. The Seoul Integration Center, in which 13 organizations collaborate and participate, is an important step in Seoul’s efforts to make Seoul a mecca for startups, and 17 of the companies participating in the Seoul Integration Center proved this by receiving innovation awards. The participating institutions in the Seoul Unification Center are ▲SBA ▲Seoul Bio Hub ▲Campus Town ▲AI Yangjae Hub ▲Gwanak-gu ▲Yonsei University ▲Korea University ▲Chung-Ang University ▲Sogang University ▲Kookmin University ▲Hanyang University ▲Konkuk University ▲Kyunghee University. Not only the Seoul Metropolitan Government, institutions, and companies, but also supporters through industry-academia cooperation are matched 1:1 with companies, and 85 supporters, the largest number, will participate.
