The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will publicly recruit outstanding domestic drone sprout companies (start-ups and venture companies) to move into the Drone Business Support Hub (located in Pangyo, Gyeonggi-do) together with the Aviation Safety Technology Institute from the 16th.
The Drone Business Support Hub provides low-rent space for budding companies with excellent drone-related technology or ideas.
Resident companies can also receive various capacity-building support, including use of public testing equipment, support for prototype production, and support for patent application fees.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport supports the growth of tenant companies by supporting KRW 2.8 billion annually, the largest amount in Korea, including 140 cases of prototype production, 51 cases of corporate consulting, 63 cases of intellectual property rights applications such as patents, 72 cases of participation in domestic and foreign exhibitions, and 118 cases of investment attraction support. He explained that he was doing it.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is holding a public offering for companies from the 16th to the 14th of next month to discover new companies to move into the drone business support hub.
Companies that move in can apply for independent spaces (about 10 spaces) and open spaces (about 4 spaces). The independent space is an individual occupancy space (35 to 123.7㎡) and is different for each company, while the open space is a separate office space for each company within a common space (35.4㎡).
Eligibility for occupancy is given to prospective drone-related startups or budding businesses within 7 years of establishment. Companies selected after application and evaluation on the 15th and 16th of next month will move in on August 1st.
Detailed information about the drone business support hub occupancy contest can be found through the Aviation Safety Technology Institute or the drone information portal.
Meanwhile, the government has been operating a drone business support hub since 2017 to support the growth of drone-related budding companies. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport explains that to date, 35 drone companies are growing into small but strong companies through various supports.
Representative companies include Datz, which is developing and commercializing self-destructive drones, and Psquare, which is developing logistics delivery technology such as pizza delivery. In addition, Ubify has grown into the world’s No. 1 drone light show company that commercialized swarm drones with its outstanding technology, and Drone Freak has become a small manufacturing company by domestically producing drone core parts (frame, flight control, motor, etc.).
Kim Heon-jeong, director of aviation policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, “We hope that sprout companies moving into the drone business support hub will grow from promising global drone companies to unicorn companies.” He added, “In the future, the government will continue to discover necessary policy and strategic support measures to support the drone industry.” “We plan to actively foster it as a future high-tech industry,” he emphasized.
