Naver Financial (CEO Park Sang-jin) announced on the 7th that it has introduced the ‘Naver Pay Watch App’ that can be used on smartwatches.
It can be used on Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch, and in particular, Naver Pay is the only service in Korea that provides simple payment that can be used only with Apple Watch.
Jinwoo Choi, General Manager of Naver Pay, said, “The Naver Pay Watch App is the service most frequently proposed by existing Naver Pay app users. It appeals to MZ generation users who have a high smartwatch penetration rate and provides the convenience of making payments without having to take out not only the wallet but also the mobile phone. “We launched it to do that,” he said.
Naver Pay Watch App currently provides QR on-site payment that can be paid with Naver Pay points, and it is simple to use.
If you use the latest version of the Naver Pay app on your mobile phone, you can install the Naver Pay app on your smartwatch. After logging in for the first time through mobile phone pairing, open the app and touch the points screen, and a QR code for payment will immediately appear. Insufficient points at the time of payment are automatically recharged from the recharge account linked to the user’s Naver Pay account. Card-linked payments are scheduled to be launched in the third quarter.
In August last year, Naver Financial introduced the ‘Naver Pay App’, which allows users to easily pay with Naver Pay points or linked cards at 100,000 affiliated stores, including major convenience stores, cafes, and gas stations across the country. The Naver Pay watch app is available on all Apple Watch Series 3 and higher models, Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic models, and if it is a cellular model equipped with a communication function, you can make payments without having your mobile nearby. The company announced that it would actively respond when a new smartwatch model is released in the future.
