Naver Financial Co., Ltd. announced that it will introduce the ‘mobile driver’s license’, which will be implemented nationwide, to the Naver Pay remittance service for the first time in the fintech industry. Users can use their mobile driver’s license at the terminal authentication stage to use free remittance.

On the 28th, Naver Financial participated in the ‘Mobile Driver’s License Nationwide Issuance Opening Ceremony’ held by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security at the Gangseo Driver’s License Examination Center in Seoul and demonstrated the Naver Pay free remittance service using mobile driver’s licenses.

If you are a first-time Naver Pay user or an existing user reinstalls the Naver app due to a change in mobile terminal, you can use not only the existing Naver certificate and mobile phone identification as a terminal authentication method for safe remittance, but also a mobile driver’s license. After receiving a mobile driver’s license provided by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, users can select the mobile driver’s license in the first terminal authentication step when using Naver Pay for remittance.

The mobile driver’s license is legally the same as the current driver’s license, and can be used anywhere that requires a driver’s license, both online and offline. Safety and convenience were verified through pilot operations in western Seoul and Daejeon from January to July, and then expanded nationwide. The first issuance is possible at 27 driver’s license test centers nationwide or at nearby police stations, and subsequent re-issuances are issued non-face-to-face. It is also possible.

Park Sang-jin, CEO of Naver Financial, said, “As the mobile ID era has begun in earnest with the introduction of mobile driver’s licenses nationwide, we will expand the application of various authentication methods, such as mobile driver’s licenses, to services so that users can safely and easily verify their identities. “He said.

Meanwhile, Naver Financial provides the Naver Pay remittance service with no limit on the number of times and no fees. Users can send money to their Naver ID or mobile phone contact number without knowing the other person’s account number, and can use it through the Naver app or Naver Pay app.
