The Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as ‘Gyeonggi Innovation Center’) is continuously recruiting companies in the Pangyo Startup Zone and group companies that wish to participate in open innovation.
Since 2016, the Gyeonggi Innovation Center has jointly operated an open innovation program with its partner KT and has carried out more than 70 commercialization linkages, including PoC, strategic investment, and commercialization.
This year, the ‘2022 Open Collaboration’ program is being carried out as part of the ‘Startup Zone Intensive Open Innovation Project’ that has been carried out since 2020. The program aims for win-win cooperation and shared growth through cooperation and matching between startups targeting startup zone companies and commercialization linkage with large and mid-sized companies.
The 2022 Open Collaboration is divided into a build-up track and a value-up track, and selected companies residing in the startup zone will be provided support for collaboration projects and PoC subsidies.
The ‘Build Up Track’ supports commercialization by matching fields in which startups can collaborate in a supply-demand format. By completing matching of 10 demand companies and 10 supply companies, a collaborative ecosystem is being established between a total of 20 start-up zone companies.
The ‘Value Up Track’ supports collaboration between large and medium-sized companies and startups at home and abroad. A total of 54 closed matching meetings were held between start-up zone tenants, Gyeonggi Innovation Center incubators, and large and medium-sized companies, and plans are in place to establish business connections through continuous matching meetings.
Recently, four start-up zone companies that are collaborating with domestic large and mid-sized companies, including LG U+, have been selected in the first round and are being supported for the project, and the evaluation for the second round of selection is scheduled for the 3rd of this month.
Promising startups located in the Pangyo Startup Zone, as well as large and medium-sized companies wishing to collaborate with competitive Gyeonggi Center incubation companies through meetups and matching, can contact the Gyeonggi Innovation Center Startup Zone team.
Gu Min-shin, Startup Zone Team Leader, said, “The open innovation project targeting companies in the Pangyo Startup Zone, which has been carried out since last year, has achieved a total of 26 cooperation results and 22 follow-up cooperation are in progress.” He added, “Currently, domestic and foreign large and mid-sized companies are actively conducting “We will support the establishment of win-win cooperation and shared growth between companies through collaboration and linkage between companies in the start-up zone.”
Meanwhile, the Pangyo Startup Zone is Korea’s largest startup support cluster, established in 2017 by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to intensively foster promising startups in new industries, and jointly operated by the Startup Promotion Agency and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center.
