Kakao’s corporate foundation, Kakao Impact, and Kakao Mobility created the ‘Mobility Worker Win-Win Fund’ and delivered 2.2 billion won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association (hereinafter referred to as Hope Bridge).
The fund delivery ceremony held at Hope Bridge on the 6th was attended by Hope Bridge Chairman Song Pil-ho, Hope Bridge Secretary General Kim Jeong-hee, Kakao ESG Vice President Yuk Sim-na, Kakao Impact Team Leader Jeong Yeon-ju, and Kakao Mobility Policy Cooperation Director Kim Soo.
Last April, Kakao announced a plan for sustainable growth with society by utilizing a win-win fund worth a total of 300 billion won over five years. This mobility worker win-win fund is part of this sustainable growth plan, and Kakao plans to raise a total of 10 billion won over 5 years and use it to support mobility platform workers such as taxi drivers and designated drivers who have suffered illness or accidents.
This year, we plan to closely examine and support taxi drivers who are suffering from aftereffects or diseases that are not covered by insurance. Kakao Impact and Kakao Mobility plan to form an advisory committee with Hope Bridge to finalize the criteria for funding support, begin accepting applications in the fourth quarter, and continue to expand the target and scope of support.
Eun-taek Hong, CEO of Kakao, said, “We want to listen to the voices of mobility workers who are exposed to more risks due to the nature of the industry and continue to expand coexistence and cooperation.” He added, “Because platform workers do not use only one platform, Kakao’s fund “We hope that support from more platform companies and the public sector will continue, starting with the creation,” he said.
Meanwhile, to strengthen social responsibility, Kakao Mobility is operating ▲ a temporary driver’s qualification system for ‘industry-related growth’ ▲ creation of good jobs for the hearing impaired, women, and youth ▲ taxi conversion program to electric vehicles ▲ Seodaemun for the ‘mobile mobility impaired’ We are carrying out various win-win activities, such as operating the Hope Car. In addition, in order to create a stable working environment for platform workers, we are also operating ‘Safety Insurance’, which compensates for damages that may occur while driving taxis, and ‘Health Support Service’, which provides free health checkups for designated drivers.
