Kakao Entertainment’s music platform Melon released a variety of content related to John Legend’s eighth studio album ‘LEGEND’ through the online and offline new music lighting service ‘Melon Spotlight’ and the original audio content service ‘Melon Station’.
John Legend participated as the first global pop artist in the Melon Spotlight, and as a ‘legend in progress’, he received a warm response from music fans by telling various stories such as introducing recently released new songs, his current status, and future plans.
John Legend expressed confidence about this album, saying, “I wanted to create a beautiful, fun, soulful, and sexy album that contains a vast amount of music.”
Regarding his name and this album’s name ‘LEGEND’, he said, “It is an album that symbolizes me and my career,” and added, “I think I have been trying to become a person who lives up to my name. So, I named this album ‘LEGEND’ with the intention of living up to my name in the future.”
As John Legend has many Korean fans, interest is also focused on whether he will collaborate with Korean singers. Regarding this, he said, “I’m constantly thinking about collaboration, and it would be nice to do it with BTS or Blackpink. In the case of Blackpink, they are raising expectations by answering, “We have actually prepared an idea that they will like.”
In addition, John Legend is attracting attention by providing a variety of exclusive content from around the world just for Melon members through Melon Spotlight. Through the ‘Ask Anything’ video, he answered various questions he received from fans in advance, and through the ‘What Does the Artist Listen to’ video, he directly introduced the playlist he has been listening to recently, including Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Purple Hearts’.
In addition, you can check out official photos related to this new album ‘LEGEND’, photos released exclusively on Melon, artist notes, and autograph messages written in Korean.
Melon Spotlight is also holding an event where a CD signed by John Legend will be given away if you complete a mission. The mission is to ‘Become a fan of John Legend’, listen to all the songs of the ‘LEGEND’ album, and ‘Leave a review’ on Melon.
Meanwhile, ‘Melon Spotlight’ is a service that widely promotes artists and new releases to the public through various exposure accounts within the Melon app and broadcasting on a large LED screen at Samsung Station K-POP Square. In the second half of this year, we plan to expand our spectrum to include various artists, including pop artists.
