Hikvision has added the ‘eDVR’ series, a built-in digital video storage device with eSSD technology, to its portfolio of security solutions for SMB.
Hikvision’s eDVR (embedded Digital Video Recorder) series uses chip-level eSSD (embedded solid state drive) technology and does not have a built-in spindle motor engine, reducing energy consumption by 45% compared to existing DVRs. This ultra-low power consumption not only saves on long-term energy costs, but also reduces carbon emissions. Additionally, it is more durable than existing DVRs using HDD drives and has a longer product life cycle, which also contributes to sustainability.
Equipped with chip-level eSSD technology and components, Hikvision eDVR has excellent storage efficiency and system stability. Storage efficiency can be improved through ‘scene adaptive bitrate control technology’ that automatically optimizes video encoding and improves coding efficiency by 25%. For example, a high bit rate is assigned to ensure the quality of images containing complex human or vehicle movements, while a low bit rate is assigned to scenes with little movement to optimize storage efficiency.
The eDVR series is equipped with motion detection 2.0 technology, allowing it to quickly and effectively respond to security breaches by distinguishing people and vehicles from other objects. This technology allows you to search images based on the appearance of people or vehicles over a specific period of time, alleviating workload and reducing costs.
Hikvision eDVR has a built-in SSD and a screw-less design, so it can be installed without tools. There is no horizontal mounting requirement for existing HDDs, making assembly and setup simpler. In addition, it is designed to be smaller than existing SSD DVRs, enabling space saving. In addition, the storage drive has a compact format that makes no noise and generates little heat, increasing its versatility. These features make the Hikvision eDVR series effective for residential, commercial, and SMB (small and medium-sized businesses) applications.
Wenson Zhou, product director at Hikvision, said, “The eDVR series is a suitable solution for residential facilities and small businesses as it can reduce costs through smarter functions, superior durability, and faster speed than before. In addition, we worked to improve energy efficiency and product life cycle to enable sustainable video security.”
