Naver Corporation announced that it has become the first domestic Internet platform company and the second among global Internet platform companies to join ‘EV100’, a global initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gases by switching to eco-friendly vehicles.
EV100 is a global eco-friendly initiative led by The Climate Group, a multinational non-profit organization based in London, England, and is a campaign to convert all company-owned and leased vehicles to eco-friendly vehicles by 2030.
Naver is the second Internet platform company in the world to join EV100 and plans to accelerate the establishment of a more robust ESG and eco-friendly management system. In particular, by joining EV100, Naver has become the first Internet platform company in the world to join both RE100 and EV100. Naver became the first domestic Internet platform company to join RE100 last August.
Specifically, Naver plans to convert 100% of its company-owned and leased vehicles to electric vehicles by 2030 and build electric vehicle charging stations in all office buildings. Currently, Naver has completed building charging facilities for a total of 82 electric vehicles at Green Factory and 1784, and is also in the process of converting to electric vehicles for business use.
Lim Dong-ah, head of Naver’s external and ESG policy, said, “We will reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions from vehicle fuel use through the spread of eco-friendly vehicles, while reducing indirect greenhouse gas emissions from electricity through the expansion of renewable energy to become a global ESG leader.” “I will take the lead,” he said.
Meanwhile, 128 global companies, including HP, DHL, and IKEA, are participating in EV100, and Naver is the third company in Korea to join.
