First, at the ‘2022 Today’s Our Comics’ awards ceremony announced on the 3rd, the Kakao Webtoon serials ‘Love Alarm’ and ‘God’s Great Palace’ won awards side by side. ‘Today’s Our Cartoon Awards’, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Cartoon Video Agency and the Korea Cartoonists Association, is called one of the three major comics awards representing Korea along with the ‘Korea Contents Awards’ and the ‘Bucheon Comics Awards’. At the ‘9th Science Fiction Awards’ hosted by the Gwacheon National Science Museum held on October 15, the Kakao Webtoon serial HUN and Jimin’s ‘Rendezvous’ were selected in the cartoon/webtoon category. After Ciaran’s ‘The Last Day of the Underworld’ won the grand prize in the web novel category of the ‘8th SF Awards’ last year, the fact that Kakao Entertainment has won the grand prize for the second year in a row adds meaning. ‘Rendezvous’ is a work that harmonizes story, directing, and drawing, and shows sci-fi imagination through comics, and all the judges left a review saying that they chose it without disagreement.

At the Busan Webtoon Festival held on October 27, the Kakao Page series ‘The Strongest People in the World Are Obsessed with Me (hereinafter referred to as Sechoijip)’ was selected for the ‘New Star Award’. Kim Elephant and ZION’s romantic fantasy webtoon ‘Sechoijip’ is a work that shines with a story based on mysterious drawings reminiscent of watercolor techniques and unique fantasy materials. It recorded about 46 million views on Kakao Page, combining the webtoon and the original web novel. It is a new work that is attracting attention and is attracting a large reader fan base.
Meanwhile, Kakao Entertainment’s works have been recognized by domestic and foreign critics and industry officials as not only this year but also last year, winning the ‘2021 Korea Content Award’, ‘2021 Today’s Our Cartoon Award’, and ‘Bucheon Cartoon Award’ as well as the global Harvey Award.
