Neowiz Co., Ltd. announced that Kim Dong-gyu, CEO of its subsidiary HiDeer, received a presidential commendation in the game culture promotion category in the game industry development category at the ‘2022 Korea Content Awards’.
The ‘2022 Korea Content Awards’, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency, is divided into three award categories every year: ▲ Contribution to overseas expansion ▲ Contribution to the development of the broadcasting and video industry ▲ Contribution to the development of the game industry, and awards medals, presidential commendations, and prime minister’s commendations. This is an event to select people.
This award was given to CEO Dong-gyu Kim for expanding the diversity of games through unique attempts such as ‘combining genres’, ‘introducing new genres’, and ‘diversifying content’, and inspiring motivation for indie game development through the success of the mobile game ‘Cat and Soup’. This is the result of being recognized for one point.
The awards ceremony was held at the COEX conference room on the 14th. CEO Kim Dong-gyu, who stood on the podium, said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the stakeholders and users around the world,” adding, “There are still so many games I want to make. “We will create warm and fun games together with Neowiz.”
Meanwhile, CEO Kim has been running a one-person developer company, HiDeer, since 2012 and is the person who developed the healing idle game ‘Cat and Soup.’ ‘Cat and Soup’ is characterized by cute cartoon-style illustrations and easy operation, and has enjoyed steady popularity, exceeding 30 million cumulative downloads in just over a year since its release. HiDeer was incorporated as a subsidiary of Neowiz in November 2021.
