Krafton (CEO Kim Chang-han) announced on the 12th that ‘BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA’ has surpassed 34 million cumulative users on Google Market within a week of its launch.
The popularity of ‘PUBG’ IP (intellectual property rights) in India could be confirmed starting from the PC version. As proof of this, it is reported that within a week of its launch, PUBG Mobile recorded a cumulative number of users of 34 million, a maximum daily number of users of 16 million, and a maximum number of concurrent users of 2.4 million.
The Google Play ranking also rose dramatically, ranking first in popularity and second in sales within 24 hours of launch.
PUBG Mobile’s global service is handled by Tencent, but Krafton provides its own service only in India. Recently, Krafton has been taking active steps in pioneering the market by making large investments in the development of game technology and e-sports in India.
Krafton held a launching party on the PUBG Mobile India official YouTube channel on the 8th, and the number of concurrent users approached 500,000.
Krafton plans to further expand the Battleground IP in India by holding the ‘Battleground Mobile India’ esports competition exclusively for Indian users. We plan to do our best to foster India’s gaming industry and e-sports ecosystem through continuous investment.
Lim Woo-yeol, head of Battleground Mobile Division, said, “We are grateful for the enthusiastic support of Indian users. “We will continue to strive to develop content to provide greater fun,” he said. “Starting with Battleground Mobile India, we look forward to Krafton and India’s gaming and e-sports industries growing together.”
