Kakao Bank announced on the 13th that ‘Kakao Bank Mini’, a financial service for teenagers, has surpassed 1 million registered customers in just one year since its launch. The usage performance and amount of subscribers are also increasing.

According to Kakao Bank, the cumulative number of Mini subscribers exceeded 1 million on the 2nd. There are approximately 2.33 million teenagers who can sign up for Mini, and 4 out of 10 teenagers in that age group are using Kakao Bank Mini.

Only teenagers aged 14 to 18 can sign up, and you can store and transfer money even if you do not have a bank account. Transportation card functions and online and offline payments are also available.

The mini card is the first card using ‘Nini’s characters’, and can be issued by selecting one type out of five types of ‘Nini’s characters’. You can also withdraw cash from an automated teller machine (ATM) using a mini card without a fee.

Looking at the actual usage patterns of teenagers, it has established itself as a service used in real life. On average, Mini customers make transfer transactions more than once a week and about 5 to 6 times per month, and 43% of all Mini Card payments are made at convenience stores and online shopping.

Kakao Bank is preparing to upgrade its mini service. While over the past year we have focused on the ‘pocket money management experience’ of directly transferring and paying through Mini, in the future we plan to introduce new services related to the habit and experience of saving money.

A Kakao Bank official said, “We are preparing a new service that can give teenagers a holistic financial experience in saving and using money,” and added, “We plan to launch it within the year and are currently in the internal testing stage.”
