[Pangyo tech] Pangyo Startup Zone, ‘Startup 815’, opens a new horizon for innovative startup investment briefing sessions

The Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center (Director Shin Hyun-sam, hereinafter referred to as ‘Gyeonggi Innovation Center’), the startup zone operating organization, announced that ‘Startup 815’, held a total of eight times in 2021, led to visible growth of startups.

The Startup Zone was established in 2017 by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to intensively nurture promising entrepreneurs in new industries, and is the largest startup support space in Korea jointly operated by the Startup Promotion Agency and the Gyeonggi Innovation Center.

‘Startup 815’ is an investment information session (IR) held monthly by field in collaboration with related organizations such as the Gyeonggi Innovation Center, Gyeonggi Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, and Gachon University. It has been held a total of eight times since April of this year, and the last investment briefing session of 2021 for the integrated sector was held on November 25.

Approximately 8 start-up companies with less than 7 years of experience in various fields, including bio, small and medium-sized enterprises, and IT, that passed the monthly requirements review and document evaluation participated. In addition, the judges were comprised of judges with investment and support experience in various fields, including investment companies, ACs, financial institutions, and startup companies.

A total of 67 startups, approximately 80 investment companies, and AC officials participated, and an investment briefing session and follow-up meeting were held.

Among the participating companies, the final five companies made direct investments, with a total investment of 5 billion won. In addition, many participating companies are in continuous communication with investment companies and accelerators.

An investment company representative who participated as a reviewer said, “It was a great opportunity to network with excellent startups in various fields in one place,” and added, “I hope to meet more promising startups through this opportunity in 2022.”

An official at the Gyeonggi Innovation Center said, “Startup 815 was an opportunity for innovative companies to take a leap forward,” and added, “The Gyeonggi Innovation Center and Startup Zone will continue to play a leading role in 2022 as a new growth engine in the era of the Korean New Deal and the 4th Industrial Revolution.” “We will do our best to support the startup ecosystem that can promote the growth of startups.”
