    HD Hyundai announced that it participated in the ’23rd International Shipbuilding and Marine Industry Exhibition (KORMARINE 2023)’ held at BEXCO in Busan for 4 days from Tuesday, October 24th to Friday, 27th.

    HD Hyundai’s eight shipbuilding and marine companies, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Electric, HD Hyundai Global Service, HD Hyundai Infracore, and Avicus, have approximately 213㎡ at this exhibition. set up a joint booth with the group’s companies to introduce a large number of cutting-edge technologies related to eco-friendly and smart ships.

    In particular, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries showcased its eco-friendly, carbon-free ship technology that will advance the future hydrogen society by putting a hydrogen carrier model and a dual fuel engine model under development with the goal of commercialization in 2030.

    Hydrogen carriers can minimize environmental pollution by being equipped with an eco-friendly hydrogen fuel engine or a hydrogen/LNG dual fuel engine and carbon dioxide capture and storage devices. In addition, the company explains that high-efficiency operation is possible by applying an eco-friendly power chain wingsail to the upper part of the ship, an air lubrication system to the lower part of the hull, and a futuristic propeller to increase the ship’s propulsion to the stern.

    In addition, HD Hyundai announced various technologies such as FSRU (Floating LNG Storage and Regasification Unit), a remodeled LNG carrier, methanol dual fuel propulsion container ship, and autonomous ship navigation system.

    In addition, HD Hyundai Infracore unveiled two models, the 6-cylinder DX12 and the 12-cylinder DX22, electronic engines that satisfy IMO Tier III, the latest hazardous substance emission regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

    On the 25th (Wednesday), HD Hyundai Global Service plans to sign a ‘MOU for Leading the Eco-Friendly Ship Market’ with KLC SM, which oversees the shipping sector of SM Group. Under the agreement, KLC SM plans to strengthen its efforts to respond to environmental regulations, and HD Hyundai Global Service will support KLC SM by improving energy efficiency, maintenance, and digitalization of ships.

    An official from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said, “Based on our history of over 50 years, HD Hyundai is pioneering new opportunities in the ocean by leading the marine mobility and eco-friendly energy industry.” He added, “We are developing next-generation clean energy technology and future core energy, including hydrogen. “We will lead the global decarbonization energy transition by expanding Won’s value chain capabilities,” he said.

    Meanwhile, KORMARINE 2023, co-hosted by Busan City, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Plant Association, Korea Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Industry Cooperative, Lead K Fairs Co., Ltd. and BEXCO, will feature domestic and overseas shipbuilding, offshore plant, Cutting-edge equipment and new technologies in marine energy were showcased.
