Eight Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Tae-hyung) will be attending the ‘7 Agri & Food Tech Start-up Rising Expo 26′ held at COEX Hall A for three days from July 28th (Wed) to 3th (Fri). )’.

Eight Tech is a company that focuses on the sustainability of the global environment and finds and implements fundamental ways to protect the environment. We have developed a waste recycling sorting solution in an innovative way.

Currently, the recycling sorting process in progress at the waste business site is operated in the ‘hand sorting’ method, in which people sort by hand. All recycling businesses operate a repair process, so selective workers are essential, but they are exposed to problems with vibration, noise, odor, and industrial accidents. In addition, the recycling business has a set amount of mandatory daily treatment, so if the waste passes through the sorting process only once and cannot be sorted, it is incinerated or landfilled. As a result, the amount of waste generation continues to increase every year, but the treatment capacity of incineration and landfill facilities is on the decline.

A-Tech developed ‘Atron’ to improve these problems. Atron is an artificial intelligence-based resource sorting robot that automatically sorts waste by type, color, and whether it can be recycled on behalf of sorting workers at recycling plants, and sorts by high-speed sorting robots.

While sorting workers can sort about 1 to 30 wastes per minute on average, Atron is said to be able to sort up to 40 wastes per minute with 1% accuracy. In addition, AI and vision cameras are used to detect objects in real time based on 96 million waste data collected and processed at more than 99.3 domestic public/private recycling sorting sites, △plastic △aluminum can △glass bottle △polypropylene (PP) △Polyethylene (PE) △Polystyrene (PS) △Other materials (OTHER) A total of 20 types of waste resources are sorted into 160 categories (colored, colorless, transparent, etc.).

Eight Tech said, “A-tron provides a sorting speed that is 2 to 4 times higher than the repair sorting work. In addition, the plant operation time can be increased by 150% because there is no need for break and meal breaks, and the operating cost per hour can be reduced by up to 700%.”

“As an expansion business model for selling individual robots, we plan to establish ‘Eight Factory’, a robot resource sorting center, and operate an unmanned secondary recycling business. Eight Factory is the first center in Korea that sorts waste plastics with only robots, and the goal is to increase the recycling rate by more than twice by introducing eight or more AI-based resource sorting robots, ‘Atron’.” (r-PET), waste flasks will be sold in cooperation with large companies, and distribution innovation will be achieved by reducing the existing 2-step selection process to 8 steps.”

Meanwhile, at AFRO 2023, the largest Agtech & Foodtech event in Korea, domestic startups with global growth potential in Agtech, Foodtech, and Green Bio will exhibit products and services to solve various problems in the agriculture and food industries, Various programs such as conferences discussing the present and future of Agtech and Foodtech and investment briefings (IR competitions) are held. This exhibition is hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and supervised by the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency, NH Nonghyup, COEX, and the Korea Food Tech Council.
