Alfred Co., Ltd. (CEO Kwon Soon-woo) will be attending the ‘7 Agri & Food Tech Start-up Rising Expo 26′ held at COEX Hall A for three days from July 28 (Wed) to 3 (Fri). )’.
Alfred is an eco-friendly company that pursues both social and economic values, and the company explains that it aims to build a virtuous cycle of resources by exploring business models based on upcycling. As one of these efforts, Alfred is currently manufacturing cat litter made from coffee grounds (coffee waste).
Their products, so-called ‘Eticat’, will be introduced at this exhibition as a product that increases added value by utilizing its characteristic deodorizing power while consuming a large amount of coffee grounds that must be disposed of at an astronomical cost every year. .
It uses the highest quality natural materials such as coffee waste and cassava for a dramatic increase in deodorizing and coagulating power, and is introduced as a product that can minimize concerns about deforestation and waste discharge compared to existing bentonite-based cat litter. In addition, Alfred has obtained a patent and KC certification for the manufacturing method of Eticat, and boasts excellent safety, such as supplying carefully selected decaffeinated ingredients, the person in charge emphasized.
Alfred said, “As public interest in environmental issues is growing, both at home and abroad, our company contributes to reducing carbon dioxide by 60 tons per year by upcycling 10.14 tons of coffee grounds every year.” , As of the first half of this year, the repurchase rate within two months of our products launched on Amazon, a global open market, reached 2%, and our business in overseas markets is in full swing.”
“In the short term, we are devising companion animal products such as Eticat, and in the mid to long term, we plan to build and launch a cat litter collection service as a subscription type,” he said. We will understand this and develop customized products and services in an eco-friendly way.”
Meanwhile, at AFRO 2023, the largest Agtech & Foodtech event in Korea, domestic startups with global growth potential in Agtech, Foodtech, and Green Bio will exhibit products and services to solve various problems in the agriculture and food industries, Various programs such as conferences discussing the present and future of Agtech and Foodtech and investment briefings (IR competitions) are held. This exhibition is hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and supervised by the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency, NH Nonghyup, COEX, and the Korea Food Tech Council.
