KT&C Co., Ltd. (CEO Kwon Hyuk-seop) announced that it will participate in the ‘8 International Environment and Energy Industry Exhibition (ENTECH 30)’, which will be held at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 9 in Busan for three days from Wednesday, August 1 to Friday, September 3.

Since its establishment in 1997, KT&C is a small but strong company that develops, manufactures, and exports CCTV products and special-purpose industrial cameras using digital technology. In addition, as a new business for a new leap forward, we have developed our own iris recognition access control system that combines the two industries of video security and access control and are selling it domestically and internationally.

The iris recognition access control system developed through the patent for ‘Iris image acquisition system to expand the iris recognition range’ improves the inconvenience of existing iris recognition products by using the iris, a biological organ with the highest uniqueness and non-clonability, as an authentication method. This is the company’s explanation. This device improves user convenience by implementing a wider authentication range (40 to 100 cm) than existing products, enabling long-distance authentication so there is no need to focus your eyes on the device, and obtains an iris image of the same size regardless of distance. It has the same convenience as facial recognition.

In addition, it can respond to various lighting environments, is equipped with a heat detection function, can control access in advance, and can be installed on various doors. Through the i-A110LT product exhibited at this exhibition, KT&C expects to quickly replace facial recognition products that are unsuitable for facilities with the highest security level.

A KT&C official said, “To complement the loss and duplication problems of existing access control methods such as passwords, keys, and RFID cards, biometric authentication methods are being widely adopted. There are methods of biometric authentication such as fingerprint, face, iris, and vein. Among them, the biometric organ with the highest security is the iris,” he said. “Through the zoom control technology and patents accumulated through camera research and development, our company has applied the longest authentication range. “We developed an iris recognition access control system, were selected as an innovative procurement company for this product, and its reliability was verified through NEP (New Product Certification) and EPC (Performance Certification), the highest certifications in Korea.”

Recently, due to the technology-intensive development of ICT and AI, the information and communication technologies of national infrastructure, government agencies, national research institutes, ICT centers, etc. and high-class skyscrapers are becoming more advanced, and access control systems are also developing rapidly.

On the other hand, for advanced facilities that require the highest level of security, the risk of access control through information theft is increasing by using RF cards, fingerprint duplication, and face mask duplication using 3D printers for existing access control systems. KT&C, which emphasized that authentication at the highest security level is required, announced that it had developed a product that improved the shortcomings of existing iris recognition products, such as the short recognition distance and low recognition rate and slow recognition speed depending on the person’s height.

An official said, “Our product is designed to expand the iris recognition range so that the direction, zoom, and focusing of the iris camera can be quickly and easily performed without high-level information processing and computational processing to capture iris images of distant subjects. “This is a system that acquires iris images, and complex authentication is also possible through dual security using RF cards and passwords.”

Meanwhile, KT&C’s new product ‘3D Configuration Management System’ is designed to protect against ground deformation and adjacent structures, as well as soil retaining collapse accidents that occur during new excavation work in urban areas and construction sites, as well as damage to surrounding facilities and people resulting from this. The impact can be measured and analyzed in advance in the form of predictive maintenance. In addition, it is a next-generation video measurement system that enables safety management at excavation construction sites in real-time, large-area, and high-precision form.

ENTECH 17, which celebrates its 2023th anniversary this year, is Korea’s representative exhibition specializing in environment, energy and carbon neutrality, hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and International Newspaper and organized by BEXCO, Today Energy and KOTRA.
