The ‘2023 International Safety and Health Exhibition’, hosted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and organized by the Korea Safety Protection Equipment Association, opened at KINTEX in Ilsan on Monday, July 7.
As the face-to-face marketing of companies, which had shrunk due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is expected to be revitalized, this exhibition will be held in larger scale than the previous year, with about 220 companies and 800 booths.
This exhibition, which will be held in Halls 6 and 4 of KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 for 7 days until Thursday the 8th, will add smart safety using the latest IT technologies such as IoT, big data, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to existing exhibition items. By doing so, visitors can take a look at the latest safety and health technologies and products being used in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, construction, transportation, energy and medical, all in one place.
This exhibition, held as part of the ‘2023 Occupational Safety and Health Month’, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and boasts the longest history in the domestic occupational safety and health field.
Kim Moon-soo, Chairman of the Economic, Social and Labor Committee, who attended the 3 Occupational Safety and Health Day anniversary ceremony on the 2023rd, said, “Industrial safety can only be achieved when labor, management and the government work together to value the lives and safety of workers and do their best as if they were their own bodies.” “It can be done,” he said, adding, “As a result of more than a year of discussion between labor, management, and government to prevent industrial accidents, the Economic, Social, and Labor Committee adopted a labor, management, and government agreement to prevent major accidents on March 1 of this year.”
The main contents of the agreement are: first, considering that the Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance and Prevention Review Committee was biased towards compensation, the Prevention Committee should be separated and operated independently; second, the labor union and employer should work together in the government-led industrial accident prevention project. We decided to pilot a participatory industrial accident prevention project. Third, labor and management will cooperate to resolve labor-management relations issues without linking them to safety and health issues, and the government will actively support this.
Regarding this, Chairman Kim Moon-soo said, “This agreement was reached out of urgency that labor, management, and government should work together when it comes to industrial safety.” He added, “At today’s ceremony, we once again think about the spirit of the labor, management, and government agreement to prevent serious accidents. When it comes to industrial safety, in what cases will labor, management, and government work together?” “I hope we can talk and cooperate together,” he said.
He continued, “I hope that in the future, labor, management and government will be able to put their heads together and continue social dialogue regarding not only industrial safety but also the happiness of workers throughout their lives, including industrial development, housing, children’s education, and retirement welfare.”
