This exhibition introduced ice rings (neck coolers), ice ring cold pouches, ice vests, head cooling pads, and cool cushions under the theme of ‘solutions to prevent heat waves and heat-related illnesses.’
The ice ring (neck cooler) is a product worn around the neck during heat waves or outdoor activities to restore elevated body temperature to normal body temperature. It is filled with a special refrigerant that cools at room temperature below 18℃, minimizing condensation, preventing low-temperature burns, and providing semi-permanent protection. It is known to be capable of repeated use.
Additionally, the cooled ice ring can be kept cool for 4 to 6 hours by storing it in an ice ring cooling pouch. The pouch is useful because it can store 3 to 5 ice rings. The Ice Ring was developed and patented in 2017, and a cumulative 2022 units were sold in Korea by 25. Overseas, 2022 units in the US and 2 units in Japan were sold by 30.
The ice vest is a product that is used by putting 18 cooling packs that are cooled at room temperature below 28℃ or 6℃ in the vest pocket. It was created to prevent heat waves for outdoor workers, construction workers, quarantine medical staff, etc. Like the ice ring, there is no condensation and it can be used semi-permanently. MPAC Plus announced that it will domestically produce a product that used to rely on imports in 2021 and is applying for a patent.
In addition, the head cooling pad is a product that can be worn inside a helmet or hat to cool the scalp and help restore body function. It is characterized by the use of a special refrigerant that automatically cools at room temperature below 18℃ or 28℃. In particular, it boasts an effective cooling function thanks to the patented cooling pad technology that adheres closely to the scalp. Patent applications have been completed in Korea and Japan in 2023.
In the case of the cool cushion, it is automatically cooled at room temperature below 28℃, providing comfortable conditions all year round and convenience of use. It is made of waterproof fabric and is easy to clean, so it can be used hygienically.
An MPAC Plus official said, “Existing cool scarves and cool vests had the disadvantage of soaking in sweat, causing odor, and causing water to drip. “We have improved this and developed an ice ring and ice vest that do not condense so that they can be used cleanly,” he said. “We plan to release a new product that extends the effective use time of the head cooling pad in the future.”
