    ‘K-entrepreneurship’ sprouting in Gwangju… On the 12th, all-time domestic experts mobilized to the DJ center

    The ‘K-Entrepreneurship Global Forum’ will be held at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju on the 12th (Wednesday). Interest is growing as about 2023 leading domestic experts are expected to appear as speakers in the ‘K-Entrepreneurship Global Forum (Conference)’, a major program of the ’40 International Council of Small and Medium Businesses World Congress (ICSB World Congress)’.

    This conference is co-hosted by the Small and Medium Venture Business Research Institute and the Small and Medium Venture Business Policy Society and sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The conference was planned to provide the latest information and insights to businesspeople and citizens by introducing the meaning, future direction, and overseas cases of entrepreneurship.

    As interest in and importance of entrepreneurship is growing recently, foreign officials participating in ICSB are also planning to visit the conference site. The global conference included various sessions under the theme of ‘Entrepreneurship for Humanity and Peace.’ Entrepreneurship means actively solving problems, finding alternatives, and constantly pursuing the most efficient method. In this regard, we plan to present the direction, global cases, and realization tasks of small and medium-sized venture companies and provide professional information.

    The conference, moderated by Sogang University Professor Choi Jang-ho, begins with congratulatory remarks from Lim Jeong-wook, head of the Startup and Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Gwangju Chamber of Commerce Chairman Jeong Chang-seon, and National Assembly member Lee Byeong-hoon. At the general meeting held in the morning, Juseong Engineering Chairman Hwang Cheol-joo spoke about ‘Entrepreneurship for the sustainable development of Korea’, Sogang University Professor Kim Yong-jin spoke about ‘Peace Entrepreneurship: A New Entrepreneurial Orientation’, and Oh Dong-yoon of the Small and Medium Venture Business Research Institute spoke about ‘Small and Medium Ventures’. We plan to announce the ‘future direction of corporate policy’.

    Professor Kim Byeong-jae of Sangmyung University will serve as moderator for the second plenary meeting in the afternoon. At this event, Kim Young-saeng, senior research fellow at the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training, will give a lecture on the topic ‘Social problem solving and entrepreneurship: Focusing on the cases of five African countries.’ Next, Baek In-ki, head of KOTRA’s Gwangju-Jeonnam Support Center, and Jae-sik Lee, vice-president of technology evaluation at Korea Technology Finance Corporation, will appear as speakers and talk about ‘global entrepreneurship’ and ‘the current status and alternatives of small and medium-sized venture business policy and technology finance policy.’

    The organizers explained that the general meeting, held twice in the morning and afternoon, reflected global cases and trends of small and medium-sized businesses, which are receiving more attention with the rise of entrepreneurship. The ensuing general discussion will be chaired by Professor Jong-tae Bae of KAIST, and Moon-gap Choo, Head of the Economic Policy Division of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, Seon-woo Kim, Associate Research Fellow at the Science and Technology Policy Institute, Professor Do-seong Kim of Sogang University, and Professor Yong-jin Kim of Sogang University will participate as discussants. Starting at 3:10 p.m., a total of three sessions will be held: △ Win-Win Cooperation Forum △ Small Business Forum △ Policy Finance Forum.

    First, the Win-Win Cooperation Forum session was chaired by Professor Jang-ho Choi of Sogang University, and opened with a presentation by Baek Hoon, a researcher at the Small and Medium Venture Business Research Institute. Research Fellow Baek introduced ‘The direction of new mutual growth in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution’ and then had a discussion session with Professor Jeong Jin-cheol of Chosun University. Professor Kim Tae-kyung of Kwangwoon University will give a presentation on the topic ‘Blessing or Disaster: Using AI Code Assistant Tools in Startups’ and will share various opinions with Professor Kim Sang-soo of Yongin University. POSCO Group CEO Hong Seung-hyun was also named as a presenter. Group Chairman Hong will speak on the topic of ‘POSCO’s win-win cooperation’, and Sogang University Professor Choi Jang-ho will ask questions.

    Small business forum sessions are also receiving great attention. Professor Kang Pyeong-kyung of Sogang University served as the moderator, and Bae Jin-seong, senior research fellow at the National Credit Guarantee Foundation, served as the first speaker of the session. Vice-Director Kang will have a discussion with Professor Pyeong-kyung Kang of Sogang University on the topic of ‘Current status and challenges of regional credit guarantee systems’. Kim Jin-gyu, head of Naver’s Shared Growth Office, followed with a presentation on ‘Naver Small Business Win-Win Cooperation’.

    Director Kim will have a discussion session with Professor Jeong Hyeong-rok of Kyung Hee University. Professor Park Cheol of Korea University gives a presentation on ‘Digital Transformation and Financial Performance of Small Businesses After Corona’ and talks with Professor Noh Gyeong-ho of Daelim University. The Policy Finance Forum session, chaired by Kim Byeong-jae, a professor at Sangmyung University, begins with a presentation by Park Joo-hyeon, head of the Credit Guarantee Department at the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund.

    Director Park will make a presentation on ‘The Role and Tasks of Policy Finance of the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund’ and discuss with Professor Kim Do-seong of Sogang University. Next, Director Shin Hye-sook of Korea Development Bank plans to make a presentation on ‘Korea Development Bank’s venture and startup investment support measures.’ After the presentation, she will hold a discussion with Kim Byeong-jae, a professor at Sangmyung University.

    Kim Hyeong-un, manager of the Small and Medium Venture Business Corporation, will be the final speaker. Professor Song Chang-seok of Soongsil University will participate as a discussant in the presentation on the topic of ‘The role of the Small and Medium Venture Business Corporation’s policy funds.’ A dinner and reception will also be held for attendees.

    Kim Yong-jin, co-chairman of the organizing committee, said, “This ‘K-Entrepreneurship Global Forum’ will be a good opportunity to learn about the current state of entrepreneurship at home and abroad in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.” He added, “As many experts gather in one place, this event is a great opportunity.” “We ask for your interest and participation.”
