Brain U (CEO Hong Seung-gyun) announced that it will participate in the ‘6 International Advanced Medical Devices and Medical Industry Exhibition (KOAMEX 30)’ to be held at EXCO in Daegu for three days from Friday, June 7th to Sunday, July 2nd.
Brain U is a company that has developed a variety of medical devices and wearable devices based on technology that measures brain waves among various biological signals. In particular, it actively utilizes representative technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, such as artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning, and big data, and combines them with proprietary algorithm technology completed through in-house research and development to provide measurement and analysis functions for brain waves.
At this exhibition, Brain U presents its anesthesia depth measurement system ‘CAI’. This is a solution that analyzes the brain waves of general anesthesia patients in real time, calculates the patient’s level of consciousness into quantified numbers, and provides intuitive patient status data to medical staff.
The solution consists of a sensor for collecting brain waves, an amplifier for signal amplification and preprocessing, and an algorithm and monitor for indexing the depth of anesthesia. A sensor mounted on four electrodes is attached to the patient’s forehead to collect frontal lobe EEG signals and transmit them to a dedicated application (app) on a Bluetooth-connected device to achieve real-time monitoring.
Brain U’s own technology applied to the product resolves concerns about decreased accuracy that may increase due to this simplified configuration. Compared to other biological signals such as heart rate, the algorithm accurately pinpoints much finer brain waves among the noise existing in the measurement environment, and clinical research conducted in cooperation with domestic hospitals has enabled various patients, including anesthetized patients, awake patients, and brain-dead patients, Measurement accuracy is improved by collecting the subject’s brain wave signals and using AI for learning.

The electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyogram (EMG) waves processed in this way are displayed in real time through a dedicated app, and by combining them, the patient’s anesthesia status is expressed numerically. Furthermore, it provides convenience functions that assist medical staff in their medical practice and judgment, such as allowing them to check at a glance the change in each value over time.
A Brain U official said, “CAI is a solution that has received various awards, including the Best Patent Award at home and abroad, and has superior measurement accuracy, fast response speed, and stability compared to other anesthesia depth measuring devices that are already famous in the global market.” “By introducing it at the exhibition site, we will meet with overseas buyers and actively seek to enter overseas markets in the future,” he said, explaining the reason for participating in this exhibition.
