Plasmap (CEO Lim Yu-bong) participated in the ‘6 International Advanced Medical Devices and Medical Industry Exhibition (KOAMEX 30)’ held at EXCO in Daegu for 7 days from Friday, June 2th to Sunday, July 3nd.

Plasmap is a plasma specialist company established in KAIST Research Lab in 2015. Based on the original technology related to plasma, it was selected as a preliminary unicorn by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and one of the top 100 startups by the head of the small and medium business department, and is known to hold 140 patents.

Furthermore, it demonstrated its technological prowess by attracting investment worth 460 billion won and receiving an A grade in the technology listing special evaluation. Currently, it is exporting its products to over 50 countries around the world, and in November 2021, it was the first small plasma sterilizer to obtain FDA approval, making it stand out in the industry.

At this exhibition, Plasmap showcased its lineup of plasma-based sterilizers ‘STERLINK’. These products were introduced as a solution that boasts fast sterilization speed while reducing thermal damage by combining low-volume, high-speed plasma sterilization technology.

Unlike existing sterilizers that affect the durability of medical devices through high temperature and high pressure, STERLINK can extend the life of medical devices by minimizing damage to increasingly advanced devices through ‘Medi-DSP (Direct Sterilization with Plasma)’ technology. The official explains that it is possible.

In particular, ‘Bio-RAP (Regenerative Activation by Plasma)’, a biological regeneration and activation technology using plasma, removes hydrocarbons and impurities on the surface of the implant generated during the implant distribution process and improves hydrophilicity and protein adsorption to achieve high biocompatibility. By doing so, the stabilization period after surgery can be greatly shortened.

STERLINK’s sterilization solution is the world’s first direct injection pouch-type sterilization that achieves sterilization in at least 7 minutes, boasting a speed about 10 times faster than other devices. In addition, the impermeable film allows for automatic sealing after sterilization, improving sterility and enabling perfect infection control by intuitively confirming sterility.

An official from Plasmap said, “We are continuously seeking to enter overseas markets, including discussing ODM contracts with global medical device manufacturers in the U.S., Europe, and Japan,” and added, “Based on subsequent achievements, we will move from a preliminary unicorn to a global unicorn.” “We will work hard to establish ourselves,” he said.

Meanwhile, the main exhibition items of ‘KOAMEX 2023’ hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and K-MEDI Hub are as follows. △Diagnostic and diagnostic devices such as scanners, measuring devices, and imaging devices △Clinical and inspection devices △Surgical and recycling devices △Hospital facilities and emergency equipment △Medical devices, parts, and services △Pharmaceutical devices △Medical services, SW
