Korea Food Safety Management Certification Board (President Han Sang-bae) will participate in the ‘5 Seoul International Food Industry Exhibition (SEOUL FOOD 30)’ held at KINTEX in Goyang for 6 days from Tuesday, May 2 to Friday, June 4, and promote food A specialized smart sensor was introduced.

The Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute is a public institution under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and is a specialized food safety management organization that carries out safety management certification for food and livestock products that people eat and drink on a daily basis. Ensuring food safety through provision of scientific HACCP screening and technical support services, supply and diffusion of smart HACCP leading food safety in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, HACCP training and consultation, restaurant hygiene rating system evaluation, imported food safety management, etc. I’m doing my best to do it.

At this exhibition, the first year of smart sensor development results of the ‘IoT-based HACCP management model research and development project’, which is being carried out with the research and development project budget of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, was announced. In response to this, the Certification Board said, “In order to spread smart HACCP in the food manufacturing industry, standard technologies such as digital data collection and extraction from process equipment are necessary,” and added, “With this research project, it is possible to collect and extract data without modifying or changing existing equipment.” “We have developed a food-specific smart sensor, and we have also prepared a demonstration where you can see and touch the product in person,” he said.

There are three types of food-specific smart sensors introduced this time, and in the case of the display data extraction sensor, it is possible to extract data from the desired equipment display without modifying the operating equipment, and can be easily installed in a detachable manner. Using vision technology, it is possible to extract, transmit, and automate recording of desired data such as numbers and letters displayed on equipment using OCR method, and the accuracy of data extraction has been improved by incorporating AI computer vision technology.

In addition, the digital temperature probe sensor is equipped with automatic product selection (QR code vision recognition), quick temperature measurement, and anti-counterfeiting functions. Product temperature measurement sensors are used in the food industry to check the internal temperature of a product. Previously, measured values (product name, time, temperature, etc.) were manually recorded and managed using a probe thermometer, but this sensor recognizes the QR code, automatically records the product name, and can shorten the product temperature measurement time by up to 5 times compared to the existing sensor. done. In addition, you can capture images of measured products and automatically save and manage data such as temperature and time.

Sensors for automatic identification of specimens and products were also displayed. This is a sensor that automatically recognizes and determines specimens and products that pass through the metal detector in real time. Efficient data management is possible by automating the entire process of automatically counting products, identifying defective products, transmitting data, and recording monitoring logs. Through this, it was emphasized that the proportion of workers’ intervention (input order, button input, etc.) was reduced and work efficiency was increased by digitizing elements that may arise from manual work. Officials explained that it can be easily applied to the metal detection process most commonly used in the food manufacturing process to record and manage data and smoothly introduce smart HACCP through automatic monitoring.

Currently, all five smart sensors (5 types) have acquired product certification (KC certification), realizing sensor stability, and also won the best paper award at the Korea Food Hygiene and Safety Academic Conference. Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute is laying the foundation for providing food safety intelligent services through data collection and sensor verification through food companies’ verification of smart sensors developed in the first year.

The Korea Food Safety Management Certification Board said, “The ‘IoT-based management model development research project’ will be conducted for a total of three years from 2022 to 2024, and plans to develop 3 types of smart sensors and customizing KIT for automation and digitalization of HACCP critical control point monitoring. “He expressed his expectations, saying, “We expect that the smart sensor being developed will play an important role in the introduction of smart HACCP in small and medium-sized food and livestock product manufacturing and processing companies, contributing to the revitalization of smart HACCP.”

“In addition, if the system is activated, the production process will become more efficient, data forgery and falsification due to worker negligence will be prevented, the effectiveness of HACCP management will increase, and the level of food safety management is expected to be strengthened,” he said. “The belief in HACCP is This is the beginning of national happiness. “We will build a food safety system that gives people trust by listening to all stories about food safety with an open mind so that the dining table with loved ones can be happy,” he said.
