ASA PT Co., Ltd. (CEO Seo Cheol-min) participated in the ‘5 Seoul International Food Industry Exhibition (SEOUL FOOD 30)’ held at KINTEX in Goyang for 6 days from Tuesday, May 2 to Friday, June 4.
Established in 2002 as its predecessor, ‘Aseong Industry’, ASPT, which has been engaged in the packaging materials business based on flexible packaging technology, changed its name to its current name in 2016 and is one of the companies that has taken the most advanced steps in commercializing eco-friendly packaging technology.
In fact, in 2018, we introduced an eco-friendly offset (EB-OFFSET) printer for the first time in the domestic industry, and in the same year, we introduced a new laminating technology through the world’s first solvent-free tentum. In addition, we continued to obtain FSC certification. The company explains that it has continued its efforts to preserve the global environment as much as possible.
At this exhibition, ASPT introduced its eco-friendly paper pouch. The packaging material, which is manufactured in a form called a ‘stout pouch’, has the feature of being able to package not only general foods, health functional foods, and various daily necessities, but also beverages. As for raw materials, existing plastic was completely replaced with paper to increase degradability and recyclability, and excellent functionality and design were secured at the same time through full-color printing and water-repellent coating.
Electro Beam (EB) ink is used for printing and printing, boasting eco-friendly features and minimizing color errors. In the lamination process of joining two sides of paper packaging material, emphasis was placed on being eco-friendly in terms of subsidiary materials, such as excluding existing organic chemical solvents.
In particular, the ice beverage pouches supplied by ASPT to the domestic convenience store franchise GS25 were selected for the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Director’s Award at the ‘2023 Korea Packaging Competition’ hosted by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. It was highly praised for reducing plastic usage by about 30% compared to existing packaging materials, enabling paper separation according to the Resource Recycling Act, and allowing fresh water cooling.
An ASPT official said, “Among domestic companies that promote eco-friendly packaging, we know that our company is the only one that encompasses the entire process, from selection of raw materials and subsidiary materials to manufacturing using them.” He added, “Through this unparalleled performance, we are able to secure many large companies and franchises in Korea.” He added, “We have won a contract to supply packaging materials, and we are constantly knocking on the doors of overseas markets by offering samples to North America, Mongolia, and India.”
He continued, “The reason our company, which was already in a stable position in the packaging materials industry, set its goal of becoming eco-friendly was because we maintained that trends and demand around the world were changing in that way,” adding, “One day, plastic will become an eco-friendly material, including paper.” I believe it will be replaced. “When that era arrives, we want to be remembered as a company that led the way,” he said.
