[Las Vegas (USA) = AVING News] Mobile Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Jae-seung), an AI technology-based 3D precision map development company, was in Las Vegas, USA for a total of 1 days from January 5th (Thursday) to 8th (Sunday, local time). It was reported that the company participated in ‘CES 4’ held in .
‘Mobility’ is an essential keyword for CES 2023. ▲The area of autonomous driving technology has expanded, and its use is in full swing from roads to seas, canals, mines, farms, etc. ▲Maas (Mobility as a Service) is emphasized and surplus time is monetized ▲Mapping, LiDar, and software (SW) ) With the expansion of the role of technology, new technologies related to mobility are expected to continue their position as the main axis of future industries.
At this exhibition, approximately 25 mobility companies participated in the mobility sector exhibition space, which was 300% expanded compared to the previous year. Among them, ‘MobilTech’, a startup invested by Naver D2SF, is an AI-based spatial information and service company. We develop and service technologies for utilizing 3D spatial information and data, and provide 3D solutions for smart city and autonomous vehicle safety. We are also developing and supplying 3D LiDar scanners and sensor systems.
Global media channel AVING News conducted an interview with Kim Jae-seung, CEO of Mobil Tech, which signed a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government at CES 2023 to provide digital twin services to the Blue House and Tehran Road.
Q. From the booth, you could see the Blue House in Seoul and Teheran Road in 3D from Las Vegas, USA. What was the reaction of visitors?
A. CEO Jaeseung Kim: It was divided into two categories: those who responded with curiosity and those who asked questions with interest. Our ‘Replica City’ was built using our self-developed Mobile Mapping System and was produced based on actual 3D spatial information. It is a service that provides updated city data for efficient smart city operation, and at this exhibition, the actual space was unveiled as an ultra-realistic digital twin solution.
Those who found it fascinating expressed their feelings as if they were actually in that space. Additionally, those who asked questions asked whether 3D maps could be applied to various fields. Since it is a map, it has many uses. It can also be used for tourism and route guidance, and we have received inquiries from experts in various fields such as autonomous driving, games, commerce, and logistics warehouses.
Q. The digital twin service wasn’t the only thing that caught Mobil Tech’s attention. 3D LiDar scanners were also a hot topic, but who were the main users?
A. CEO Kim Jae-seung: A large number of mobility-related companies participated in the West Hall where our booth was located. Among them, UAM-related companies and drones are seeking ways to acquire 3D spatial information more conveniently by equipping their products.
Our 3D LiDar scanners have a diverse product line. It also provides a 3D mapping system that can be used in a variety of formats, from drones to tanks, and allows for synchronization of multiple sensors. Precise calibration data between different sensors is also available. It is equipped with a real-time indoor/outdoor 3D mapping solution and can be used even in environments where scanning with existing technology is difficult.
Q. Please explain your future plans starting from this exhibition.
A. CEO Jaeseung Kim: We will expand our technology to the Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern markets. In the case of Southeast Asia, we will first build infrastructure in places where not much urban data base has been collected and then complete maps with precision. We are also planning to provide 3D space in real areas to the metaverse industry, which is emerging as a hot topic in the Middle East.
Additionally, we plan to knock on the doors of two industries. First, the virtual production market. This is a method of simulating areas or places that are difficult to actually film as a background using an LED wall. If you use a space created with high precision in 3D, you will be able to shoot more realistic scenes. That’s why I’m interested in broadcasting and movies. Second is the logistics warehouse sector. Using 3D maps, work spaces and patterns can be designed efficiently.
Maps can be used in a variety of industries. We will expand ultra-precision 3D maps to other industries in addition to the mobility industry.
Meanwhile, ‘CES’, the world’s largest IT exhibition, is an exhibition where you can understand the trends of the global home appliance industry at a glance. Hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), it is held every January in Las Vegas, USA. AVING News, which has covered CES for 1 consecutive years, has reported CES news around the world every year since 17, and has been selected as the ‘BEST OF CES’, which selects the best innovative products and technologies, and the ‘BEST OF’, which selects domestic innovative companies. ‘MADE IN KOREA’ was held. In addition, CES on-site issues were vividly conveyed through ‘AVING LIVE’.
