[Las Vegas (USA) = AVING News] Peugeot participated in ‘CES 1’ held in Las Vegas, USA for a total of 5 days from January 8th (Thursday) to 4th (Sunday, local time) and demonstrated its future vision. The ‘Peugeot Inception Concept’ was unveiled for the first time in the world.
The ‘INCEPTION’ of the Peugeot Inception Concept means ‘Inceptio’ in Latin. It contained Peugeot’s solemn declaration and will to prepare for a new era. The Peugeot Inception Concept offers unique technology and an exclusive automotive experience.
The Peugeot Inception Concept effectively retains the Peugeot brand’s unique cat-like appearance, while adding a reinterpretation for a new era. The new design language is scheduled to be introduced in next Peugeot vehicles from 2025.
The exterior catches the eye with a huge glass surface that extends from the front to the roof and back. The glass surface was specially treated to solve heat and ultraviolet ray blocking issues. The front fascia adopts the all-new Peugeot light signature with three iconic claws integrated, and the entire front grille and signature parts are integrated into one and a sensor is built in. In the center, the logo with a 3D luminous effect shines.
Doors are used for communication. A TECH BAR in the form of a flash screen that runs horizontally across the door is applied to send different messages to the outside of the vehicle when the driver and passengers approach. In addition to the usual welcome and farewell messages, it also displays the battery charge level. It recognizes the driver and allows the interior settings desired by each passenger.
The Peugeot Inception Concept was designed based on the ‘STLA Large Platform’, one of Stellantis Group’s pure electric vehicle platforms (BEV-by-design). The platform, designed for electrification, makes a major difference in completely reconfiguring the interior. The STLA large platform is 5m long and yet offers a low, efficient silhouette.
The interior, which presents a new vision for the grand tourer, has also been updated with seat arrangements to provide a unique driving experience. The high belt line serves as a safety bolster, and the seat is installed low to provide more space for all seats. Passengers can enjoy a ride that suits their needs, including dynamic driving and relaxation. In addition, the fact that it is no longer difficult to find the dashboard indoors is also considered an innovative element. A cockpit with minimal functionality is installed below the driver’s standard to provide the driver with an open view.
Peugeot also unveiled the ‘Hypersquare Control System’ that will be introduced through the next-generation i-Cockpit. The system replaces both the classic steering wheel and buttons, and is controlled through a centrally mounted screen and circular modules located at each corner. This includes Stellantis’ STLA smart cockpit technology platform. The next-generation i-Cockpit is combined with the ‘Halo Cluster’, which provides information on pedestrians approaching from all directions around the vehicle in a circular display while driving. When switching to level 4 autonomous driving, the hypersquare disappears, and instead a large panoramic screen comes out from the bottom of the vehicle to provide a new driving experience.
The Peugeot Inception Concept, a pure electric vehicle, applied an 800V system. Equipped with a 100kWh battery, it can travel up to 800km on a single charge. Efficiency is excellent, at only 100 kWh per 12.5 km. The battery charges up to 1 km in 30 minute and 5 km in 150 minutes. Wireless charging is also possible without a cable. Two electric motors attached to the front and rear provide dynamic driving with four-wheel drive. The total output is 680 horsepower (500 kW), and it can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in less than 3 seconds.
Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson said, “Peugeot is committed to electrification. Starting this year, electrification will be applied to all lineups, and five new pure electric vehicles will be launched over the next two years. Our goal is simple. The goal is to make Peugeot the best electric car brand in Europe by 2. This is embodied today in the Peugeot Inception Concept, which marks the beginning of a new era,” she said.
