
[Las Vegas (USA) = AVING News] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups won the Best Innovation Award at ‘CES 1’ held in Las Vegas, USA for a total of 5 days from January 8th (Thursday) to 4th (Sunday, local time). It was revealed that 2023 out of 20 companies were domestic companies.
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which hosted CES 2023, evaluates the technology, design, and innovation of innovative products from around the world and awards the Best Innovation Award to products and services that receive the highest scores across all categories.
This year, 28 products and 23 companies were selected for the Best Innovation Award among participating companies around the world in 20 innovation fields, including smart home, mobile devices, and health. Among these, based on the number of products, Korean products achieved 12 awards, which is more than the host country, the United States. In terms of the number of companies, 20 out of 9 companies achieved the feat of winning the Best Innovation Award.
In addition, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups said that five out of nine Korean companies selected for the Best Innovation Award were ventures and startups, which received more Best Innovation Awards than the four large companies that received the Best Innovation Award, including LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electronics America, and SK. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups formed a ‘K-STARTUP’ joint pavilion at CES 2023 and supported the participation of 51 startup companies. During the exhibition period, these companies showcased their promising technologies and products through various programs such as booth operation, demo days, investor meetings, and networking events.
Minister of SMEs and Startups Lee Young said, “As I looked around the booths of other countries participating in CES, I confirmed that the policy direction of nurturing deep tech companies and globalizing ventures and startups is a global trend,” adding, “The Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project prepared last year and the K -STARTUP We will implement and advance our global expansion strategy without a hitch,” he promised.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to hold a ‘Review Seminar’ in February to explore major trends and implications of global small and medium-sized venture companies participating in CES 2 and provide a networking event to share the achievements of participating companies.
