The Microorganism Verification Support Center (Director Min Jo) announced that it will participate in ‘BIO KOREA 5’ to be held at COEX, Seoul for three days from May 10 (Wed) to 12 (Fri).
The Microorganism Testing Support Center (PCMO, hereinafter referred to as the Center) is a public CDMO organization specializing in biopharmaceuticals that has obtained GMP certification and provides various services of ‘microbial-based biopharmaceuticals’. The center is located in Hwasun, Jeollanam-do, the only ‘vaccine industry special zone’ in the country as a ‘vaccine global industrialization foundation establishment project’, and provides process development, consignment production (50L, 200L, 1000L class, BSL-3), and test and analysis services. . The center explained that it is doing its best to become the foundation for Korea’s biopharmaceutical industry to advance into the global market.
As the center is completed and operated in 2020, it possesses and utilizes the latest facilities and equipment to provide ‘microbial culture-based CDMO, cell bank consignment production and storage, and GMP consulting’ services. Using the center’s GMP facilities, ‘on-site practical microorganism-based vaccine expert technology training’ is being conducted for biopharmaceutical-related incumbents and job seekers. A separate training building will be completed in 2025 to provide convenience facilities such as on-site practical training rooms, accommodations for trainees and external instructors.
After the completion of the facility, the center operated for 2 full years, completed process development for 6 products, and commissioned production of about 13 products, some of which are scheduled to complete and proceed with phase 1 and 2a clinical trials. In addition, about 27 cases of cell bank consignment manufacturing are provided, and active corporate support activities are underway.
In addition, the center plans to complete the building in 2025 and provide mRNA vaccine and pharmaceutical CDMO services (based on IVT reaction volume, 5L/15L culture and consignment production of finished products) by carrying out the ‘mRNA demonstration support base establishment project’.

The Microorganism Verification Support Center said, “Participate in the BIO KOREA 2023 exhibition, which encompasses all of the bio/pharmaceutical industry, inform related exhibitors and visitors about the center’s business (process development, consignment production, quality control, storage service, etc.), In addition, we are trying to attract potential customers by partnering with companies. In addition, we would like to promote the participation of those who are subject to education by promoting ‘on-site practical microbiological-based vaccine professional technical manpower training’ targeting incumbents and job seekers related to biopharmaceuticals,” said the background of participating in the exhibition.
Meanwhile, ‘BIO KOREA 18’, which celebrated its 2023th this year, is hosted by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute and Chungcheongbuk-do. Since 2006, BIO KOREA, which has been striving to promote the global status and continuous growth of the Korean health industry, has been strengthening its position as Korea’s representative bio-health international convention with world-renowned scholars and business experts participating every year.
