LMCAD Co., Ltd. (CEO Jinwoo Ahn) participated in the ‘4 World IT Show (WIS 19)’ held at COEX in Seoul from Wednesday, April 21th to Friday, April 2023st.
LMCAD is a CAD software development company that started as an in-house venture company of Hyundai Motor Company and was spun off in 2020.
CAD programs used in automobiles, aviation, shipbuilding, etc. are generally known as standard programs such as CATIA, NX, CREO, and SOLIDWORKS. In the case of Hyundai Motor Company, it mainly uses CATIA or CREO, but these programs have the problem of being expensive beyond imagination and interoperability is difficult because each tool is a unique program developed by a different company.
LMCAD developed a program in a single module format so that many 3D CAD programs can be utilized.
LMCAD’s ‘ELM Viewer’ displays heavy data such as CATIA, NX, and CREO in a lighter version by more than 95%. Usually, the precision of 3D CAD programs is set to 1/1000mm, but the moment it becomes lightweight, the data precision drops drastically. However, LMCAD’s ‘ELM Viewer’ not only guarantees precision up to 1/100mm, but can also read data created in various 3D CAD programs.
LMCAD aims to develop 3D PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) and PDM (Product Data Management) by developing an ultra-lightweight program viewer that secures such precision and versatility.
Even though Hyundai Motor Company alone has thousands of partner companies participating in automobile production, managing the data required for this is very difficult. The biggest problem is cost, and because the cost required to install and operate PDM is beyond imagination, partner companies of any size cannot even think about it. In addition, if the 3D CAD program used by each company is different, data management itself becomes more difficult.
To this end, LMCAD plans to develop an accessible, low-cost PDM and provide a universal web viewer that can check precise data values regardless of the type of 3D CAD program. Above all, we are developing a 3D PMI that can be used for general purposes, and it is scheduled to be debuted at CES next year.
Through this, LMCAD plans to complete the world’s first solution that will enable the internalization of 2D design drawings into 3D CAD, which was almost impossible, and the recycling of data through this.
Meanwhile, the ‘World IT Show’, a one-stop platform for digital transformation, is a representative exhibition leading the next-generation high-tech industry.
