Battery Factory (CEO Heung-Woo Lee) participated in the ‘2023 Seoul Mobility Show’, which opened on March 31st and will be held at KINTEX for a total of 10 days until April 9th.

Battery Factory is a specialized company that has provided repair and replacement services for nickel metal hydride and lithium battery packs for more than 1,000 hybrid electric vehicles of various brands since 2017.

Based on the technology accumulated while providing battery-related services, in 2021, the company obtained a patent for a method of replacing nickel hydride battery packs used in Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles with lithium polymer battery packs such as those used in Hyundai and Kia vehicles. . In addition, over the past two years, the technology has been tested on over 300 vehicles in Korea, and is currently said to be seeking to expand the market to Mongolia, Canada, and Australia.

At this exhibition, Battery Factory introduced its battery replacement technology and services. Battery Factory has been providing battery pack replacement and repair services for Toyota and Lexus hybrid electric vehicles that have been imported and sold since 2010 and have been in operation for a long time.

The gist of these services is to replace existing nickel-metal hydride battery packs with lithium polymer battery packs, and is characterized by significantly lowering the service price by using battery packs generated from discarded vehicles from domestic brands Hyundai and Kia.

Nickel-hydrogen battery packs and lithium-polymer battery packs have different voltages per module, connection structure of voltage sensor terminals, BMS, etc., so it was previously impossible to use them interchangeably. However, Battery Factory overcomes these limitations through its own modification technology. The official explained that it was overcome.

A Battery Factory official said, “Battery repair and replacement costs for used Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles that have been in operation for more than 10 years were offered at a high price that was comparable to the price of other low-priced vehicles, causing great difficulties for drivers in the domestic market.” “Based on the enhanced battery pack performance, we have succeeded in commercializing our own technology to use lithium polymer battery packs, which boast a reasonable price and longer lifespan, for services, and we are expecting a good response from consumers,” he added. .

He continued, “If you use lithium polymer battery packs, which have a high domestic penetration rate, you can significantly save foreign exchange compared to relying on Japanese battery packs, and the advantage is that you can also reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption due to battery pack disposal and recycling. “We will actively promote at this exhibition that such excellent technology and services can not only improve customer satisfaction but also contribute to global environmental issues,” he said.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will begin with a press day on March 1th (Thursday) at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 3 in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do under the theme of ‘Sustainable·Connected·Mobility (Sustainable·Connected·Mobility)’ and end on April 30th ( It will be held until Sunday. The total exhibition size is 4㎡, more than twice the size of the previous event (9㎡), and over 53,541 companies and organizations from 26,310 countries around the world will participate and showcase various mobility contents.
