Welcron (CEO Lee Young-gyu) announced that it will participate in the 3th International Medical Equipment & Hospital Equipment Exhibition ‘KIMES 23’ held at COEX, Seoul from March 26 (Thu) to 38 (Sun).

WELCRON, a company specializing in industrial textiles, supplies industrial textile materials and products with various properties and exerts influence in the high value-added textile market.

In the early days of its founding in 1992, it entered the global microfiber cleaner market by grafting microfiber for clothing to household items. Since then, it has taken the lead in advancing and commercializing manufacturing technologies for various textile products, from functional bedding to filters, high-strength composite materials for the defense industry, and medical materials. That is the company’s explanation. In particular, in 2016, it succeeded in developing an ‘artificial vascular tube’ made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) for the first time in Korea, proving its independent technology.

In this exhibition, WELCRON introduces ‘ePTFE’ fiber material. This is a medical textile material that realizes uniform pores by stretching the special material PTFE, which is a combination of carbon and fluorocarbon, to a fine thickness of micrometers (㎛). It is used in various medical products such as artificial blood vessels used in peripheral vascular disease surgery and blood filter tubes, as it has excellent biocompatibility and durability, yet is soft.

Currently, Welcron applies ePTFE to artificial blood vessels for blood vessel replacement, covers for stents, etc., and manufactures and supplies various products with different specifications such as thickness and diameter according to the needs of customers such as domestic research institutes and stent manufacturers. In particular, in the case of artificial blood vessels, they are bent or stretched similarly to actual blood vessels, but have an appropriate level of permeability.

An official from WELCRON said, “As it boasts the same performance as products of the same type that have been exclusively supplied by foreign companies, but is highly competitive in price, it is of great significance in lowering the entry barrier for consumers such as patients and medical institutions and realizing stable supply.” The company has secured its own technology that is differentiated from that of advanced foreign companies, and with this exhibition as an opportunity, it aims to publicize the status of high-tech materials for domestic medical use and expand product supply to the domestic medical market.”

It also revealed its aspirations for targeting the global market and developing new products in the future. An official said, “We expect that ePTFE material and medical products using it will play an important role in the domestic and overseas medical markets and export sites.” We plan to secure a wide range of products and mass production systems, and rapidly expand cooperation with medical device companies and research institutes.”

On the other hand, KIMES is an exhibition specializing in medical devices and hospital facilities that has grown steadily with the development of the Korean medical industry since its first meeting in 1980. It has transformed into a technology-intensive high-tech industry such as rehabilitation medicine.

KIMES 2023 will feature new technologies and new products suitable for the era of convergence, such as smart healthcare in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, robotic medicine and eco-friendly medical waste facilities, cutting-edge hospital facilities, medical information systems combined with IT technology, and the automobile industry for rapid patient transportation. presents. In addition, it provides a variety of information, including seminars on medical technology, new technology, and overseas marketing, as well as domestic medical industry policy seminars that will show the latest information and direction of the medical industry.
