Magnosis Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Soon-hyeok) participated in the 3th International Medical Equipment & Hospital Equipment Exhibition ‘KIMES 23’ held at COEX, Seoul from March 26 (Thu) to 38 (Sun).
Established in January 2020, Magnosis is a medical device manufacturing startup that has developed dementia diagnosis devices and dementia delay devices. In the future, we plan to expand our business into the field of mental health medicine, such as diagnosis of depression and relief of symptoms, as well as the field of health care based on vital signs.
In this exhibition, it introduced ‘Brainspect20’, a self-made dementia diagnosis device. This is a biomarker for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s type dementia based on brain wave measurement, and the company explained that the accuracy of distinguishing dementia from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) exceeds 95%. Dementia can be detected at an early stage, and cognition and depression can also be detected.
It is a Bluetooth-type wireless brainwave measuring device, and it is possible to check the result after measuring for about 10 minutes in a resting state without a separate task for the subject. In addition, Magnosis also emphasized that no gel is needed by using 100% dry electrode for its equipment.
An official from Magnosis said, “The diagnosis of dementia is still made with a question-and-answer type of neuropsychological test, not a medical device, so errors occur. As the examination time is longer than 40 minutes, there are errors due to patients’ lack of concentration, and errors occur even when a professional examiner is absent. In addition, there are errors due to poor communication between the examiner and the subject, and errors due to the need to correct for education, age, etc., because the score of the neuropsychological test is based on statistics.”
In order to overcome the limitations of dementia diagnosis, they wanted to create an accurate dementia diagnosis device by medical devices. An official said, “Although blood test diagnostic kits are being developed, there are invasive inconveniences such as having to draw blood. Therefore, the development of a dementia diagnosis device that is non-invasive, simple, and produces test results in a short time, such as EEG, was required.” We have developed a biomarker device.”
