LG Display will participate in ‘CES 1’, the world’s largest IT and home appliance exhibition, opening in Las Vegas, USA on January 5 (local time) and introduce its technological leadership by covering cutting-edge organic light-emitting diode (OLED) products. .

LG Display plans to showcase the company’s next-generation OLED product line at this CES. The main booth will showcase display technology optimized for various customer usage environments under the theme of ‘Always On’, and the exhibition hall dedicated to automotive displays will be operated under the theme of ‘Advanced Mobility Lifestyle’.

LG Display is unveiling small and medium-sized OLED panels and automotive display products to expand its ‘order-based’ business that can generate stable profits through cooperation with customers. In the case of small and medium-sized foldable OLED products, we will focus on use cases that overcome the limitations of electronic devices.

For example, the 17-inch foldable OLED for laptop PC, which will be displayed at the main booth, is expected to be used in tablets, laptop PCs, portable monitors, etc. as the screen can be folded and unfolded in half. In addition, it is equipped with a total touch solution that supports both finger and pen touch input, and wrinkles are minimized on the folded part, so you can enjoy a natural screen even when it is wide open.

The 8-inch 360° foldable OLED that is being introduced together is characterized by implementing two-way folding, which is more technologically difficult than one-way folding. It has high usability value as it can be folded back and forth as desired by the user, and has a modular structure that guarantees durability even after being folded and unfolded more than 20 times. In addition, this product also uses a special folding technology that minimizes wrinkles at the folding area.

The 3rd generation OLED TV panel, which has revolutionized picture quality by applying the new META technology, will also be unveiled at this CES. In addition, so that you can see LG Display’s proprietary OLED product line at a glance, you can see everything from the ultra-large 97-inch OLED TV panel, the largest OLED TV panel in existence, to 77, 65, 45, 42, and 27-inch OLED TV panels, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR). Even the ultra-small 0.42-inch OLEDoS that will be utilized will be on display.

In order to target new markets, the company also unveiled an OLED panel dedicated to gaming. Introducing new 45-inch ultra-wide OLED panels and 27-inch OLED panels optimized for gaming. The gaming-specific OLED panel, which began mass production this month, will be installed in premium gaming monitors from global IT device manufacturers and gaming gear brands such as LG Electronics, Asus, and Corsair.

In addition, a new concept movable concept product that maximizes the advantages of thin and light OLED to increase mobility, OLED Glow, which combines an OLED panel with a movable stand, and ‘B-Fit,’ which combines a cinematic sound OLED (CSO) that produces sound directly from the screen and a retractable design frame. ‘Trolley’ will also be released.

Plastic (P) OLED and low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) liquid crystal display (LCD) display panels will also be introduced to expand the automotive display business, which is growing as a major axis of the order-based business.

The P-OLED 34-inch automotive display has an ultra-large screen that stretches across the vehicle dashboard and an ergonomic design that allows you to see the instrument panel and navigation at a glance, improving driving convenience. The LTPS LCD-based ultra-high-brightness head-up display (HUD) produces a clearer screen than the existing light-emitting diode (LED) method with a brightness of up to 5,000 nits.

We are also introducing an in-vehicle sound solution that will enrich the in-vehicle infotainment experience. A independently developed film-type vibration generator (exciter) uses the display panel or various vehicle interior materials as a diaphragm to produce sound. This product won the CES 2023 Innovation Award in the field of vehicle entertainment and safety.

An official from LG Display said, “We will introduce a wide range of products that will form a business consensus among global customers,” and “We plan to pursue mid- to long-term business growth with LG Display’s unique technological leadership.”

Meanwhile, ‘CES’, the world’s largest IT exhibition, is an exhibition where you can understand the trends of the global home appliance industry at a glance. Hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), it is held every January in Las Vegas, USA. AVING News, which has covered CES for 1 consecutive years, has reported CES news around the world every year since 17, and has been selected as the ‘BEST OF CES’, which selects the best innovative products and technologies, and the ‘BEST OF’, which selects domestic innovative companies. ‘MADE IN KOREA’ was held.
