The world’s largest IT and home appliance exhibition ‘CES 2023’ will be held in Las Vegas, USA on January 5 (hereinafter local time), and as many as 496 domestic companies will participate. This figure ranks second after the United States.
Companies participating in CES 2023 are largely divided into specialty product halls (Market Place) and innovative new product halls (Eureka Park), and the organizer, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), will display the products and services of companies that applied for participation as a group or individually. Participation will be decided based on technical skills and innovation.
In addition, unlike the existing method of only approving the participation of single companies in each sector, CES 2023 actively accepted requests from specialized public institutions to build a joint pavilion to support the participation of many startups and small and medium-sized enterprises. ‘Eureka Park’, which was created as part of this, signed a booth area contract with the government and support organizations, and approved participation for companies that were established within 7 years of establishment and submitted innovative technology submissions developed within 1 year.
As of January 1 of this year, the number of participating companies in CES 2023 is approximately 2,400, and when classified by country, ▲US 1,484 ▲Korea 469 ▲China 502 ▲France 233 ▲Taiwan 175 ▲ The order was 82 in Canada, 60 in Japan, and 59 in Germany. In China, where about 1,200 companies participated in the 2020 exhibition, the number of participating companies decreased significantly due to the recent US-China trade dispute.
Among these, in the case of Eureka Park, 273 parks in Korea, 197 in France, 176 in the United States, 37 in Japan, and 26 in Israel are participating. As a result, Korea was found to be significantly ahead of the host country, the United States, in the number of participating companies. Compared to last year’s exhibition, the number of domestic startups increased by 73, showing a whopping 36.5% increase.
The increase in the participation rate of domestic startups participating in Eureka Park is attributed to the active support of domestic organizations. This exhibition includes the ‘Integrated Korean Pavilion’ established by KOTRA, Changwon Industry Promotion Agency, Incheon Techno Park, South Chungcheong Province, Gyeongnam Technopa, Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center, and Ajou University, as well as ▲ Startup Promotion Agency ▲ Seoul Trade Industry Promotion Agency ▲ Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency A joint pavilion formed with support from ▲Korea Creative Content Agency, ▲Gyeongbuk Economic Promotion Agency, and ▲Korea Information and Communication Technology Industry Association (KICTA) will grace the occasion.
